I've noticed a couple closed topics on fishing, but I'm still seeing the bug. My character freezes and menu options do nothing. I can move the camera around and that's it. The only way to get back working again is to force close the game.

I’ve noticed this happens whenever you cancel and lose a Lure, or it has happened when I have lost to catch when it is not a monster. I just hit 82 and I just try to avoid the situations.

I will admit they are annoying, but you can work around them. Good luck.

Don't cancel fishing, and just wait out mobs if you can't one shot them. It's a pain, but just can't afk fish any more.
