No problems with either NM, including the fishing. Giving the fish to the kid causes dialogue, showing him the shell bug does nothing. The guy in Selbina doesn't take the fish or say anything related to the quest. I tried talking to every NPC involved and, on the advice of someone in-game, repeating these steps without a shell bug in my inventory. Same results.

This just happens for this quest in particular. You just need to keep retrying it all over and over again. The whole quest. Until it works.

This happened to me as well. You probably also have the quest Under the Sea activated, which takes priority and uses the same Galka NPC. You need to level fishing high enough to catch a Fat Greedie, as it is R/EX, and then complete that quest first, after which the Galka will progress your AF quest. If memory serves, I think I had to level fishing to 6 and use a full Fisherman's Tunic set in order to get the Fat Greedie.

I forgot to mention Under the Sea. That was the first thing I checked and I don't have it active.

A common mistake people make on this quest is going to kill the fish NM immediately after getting the giant shell bug. What you're supposed to do is take the shell bug to the boy first, then go fish up the NM.

If you fish up the NM first, you will have to discard that fish, get another Giant shell bug and trade it to the boy for a cutscene, then go fish up the NM in oztroja again and get a new fish.
