I've waited 24 real life hours and the npc still says come back the next day. :( But i have the title like I completed it.

You are likely mis-counting the time that has passed. This has happened several times. Just wait for EST midnight.

Its longer than 24 hours, just wait. You havent miscounted, its just longer than the normal time. It'll finish.
