Am curious, what version of Wine did you install for Lutris? For example in a terminal
Code:
wine --version

and what PPA's or source did you use to install Wine & Lutris for your 18.04?

wine --version
wine-3.0 (Ubuntu 3.0-1ubuntu1)

https://lutris.net/downloads/

The Lutris URL has all the info you need. I am pretty sure it downloads the versions of wine it needs and its dependencies.

Also I am now playing retail and nasomi at the same time (with no need for bat file configuration or anything like that). I have them in two different directories though (both games share no files).

I can provide instructions for Lutris as well. Ultimately I would like to get a Lutris install script posted on Nasomi or Lutris site (if possible).

1. add Nasomi to Lutris (Add Game option in Lutris app)
2. under "Game Options" set the "Executable" be the installer (NasomiXI.exe). It should already be downloaded/unzipped or from torrent.
3. on the same tab set "Wine prefix" to be the folder location you want the installation process to create and install under. Keep "Prefix architecture" as AUTO (it is smart enough to do 32 or 64 bit). Press the "Play Button" to begin installation.
4. once installation is complete press the "Configure" button and go the "Game Options" tab. Change the "Executable" from the NasomiXI.exe to the Nasomi boot.exe (NasomiXI/SquareEnix/Ashita/ffxi-bootmod/boot.exe).
under "Arguments" add the following:
--server na.nasomi.com --hairpin --user {user name} --pass {password}
5. edit the FF11 settings (NasomiXI/SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XI/ToolsUS/FINAL FANTASY XI Config.exe). to do this in Lutris select "Run EXE inside wine prefix" and select the FF11 settings file.
6. Press the "Play Button" again to launch the game.

This is the exact steps I did and I have it running very beautiful. Any questions please feel free to reach out. Also hopefully soon I can answer private messages. I would like to get this all automated soon but for now this should suffice let me know if you have luck with it. Also this should work with Pop OS as well (comes pre installed with Lutris).

Thanks for all the help. Also my account says I cannot private message. So I am not being rude if I dont reply but it wont let me jajaja.

I officially have this working on Ubuntu 18.04 with Lutris. I will probably contribute a lutris install script and contribute to the project.

Also I did not have to override any dll's or anything.

So here you mean you did not use the imm32.dll.so file?
Edit -- This worked for me did not even have to use the imm32.dll.so though for some reason my Ubuntu repository Wine 3.0 was not working, lutris's 5.7 wine did many thanks!!

Correct! No need to override the imm32.dll.so. So glad it is working for you as well!

Also about Wine, quoted from there docs:

"""
When playing games lutris will use a custom version of Wine optimized for games.
"""

Makes sense that it is working with the Lutris Wine.

Ah okay makes sense, the Wine 3.0 that was not working was not installed with Lutris but by the Ubuntu apt-get repository.
I am really glad, this means a data backup and upgrade LTS version is not necessary to play. Happy day!
