a bug fix 4 years too late. not explicitly an economy change. its a bug thats been fixed

removing 0% hq tiers is also not exactly a benefit to old players who had to deal with it the whole time

I'm quite sure Viktoria was referring to the changes to subcraft tier now directly affecting HQ rate, not the "tier cracks".

Regardless, it is going to have a rather large effect on the economy...

Another economic change 4 years too late that is going to effectively widen the gap between vets and new players. I say that as someone its not going to affect because I don't really craft things for profit that require subs.

Prices are going to shoot way up on things that were a tier 1 or tier 2 that are now either a 0 or a tier 1.

Coming from a new player (been on Nasomi for 10 weeks or so) I agree with Viktoriya about how the prices will change and how it's going to widen the gap between vets and new players. I haven't been on the server for long but I've already made friends with quite a few vets who have taken up multiple crafts and I've been talking with them regularly about crafting on Nasomi and how it's been over the years and now, since the last 'update', how it has changed.

For me it's a little bit of a bitter pill to swallow watching a change like this because I KNOW that prices are going to go up and, for a casual player, I know what that means for me. When i started on Nasomi I looked at the state of the economy and though to myself "wow, this actually seems affordable". I was a very casual player during retail who could never really devote the time to be able to afford things like NQ Hauby, or Astral Rings. I know that sounds pathetic but I just really didn't have much time to play. Anyhow, this time around I was able to work my butt off for a couple of weeks and I managed to acquire some key bits of gear that I felt were a necessity for my Race and job class. It felt GOOD to know that I put in some effort and got a reward that was, in my opinion, game changing.

Then I watched as D ingots went from 350k to 500k in less than one month and thought to myself about how that's going to affect the price of the NQ and HQ Hauby. I even said to more than one person "you should buy all the Hauby+1 on the market if you can" or "If I could buy them up I would." Heck, I even asked for a loan to buy one or two as an "investment" (I didn't get it unfortunately). This was BEFORE the crafting update, this was just a result of my observing the change in the price of D ingot. And now I've watched the price go from 800k to 1.2M in 6 days. And it'll go up to 2M or so in time, I don't doubt that.

But not to sound like someone who is just complaining because I also know that I don't HAVE to have HQ everything, but it certainly was nice to see that they were within my reach. Part of the reason I'm chiming in on this topic is because I had decided this time around to pick up a craft that I hadn't tried before, I wanted to take up Goldsmithing. I know it's expensive, lots of people told me it was expensive, but I was willing to try. I leveled it up to 30 without spending a dime by mining my own materials, ok that's a lie because I bought some crystals along the way, but the materials were all farmed. And I really wanted to keep going with it, but I got discouraged. I watched as another crafter (post update) got 0.1 skill up in 50 synths on new moon darksday when they were 3 skill levels below the cap and I thought to myself "that's not affordable, I don't think I can do that." And it made me feel a little like it was all slipping away for someone who is a very casual player.

I wished I had started playing two months prior to when I did because then I would have been able to accumulate more or perhaps I should have started now when I didn't know "what it was like" before the changes.

I guess this post turned in to part rant and part lament. I know I should just suck it up and I will, I have already started thinking about how these changes will affect me and how I need to adapt to make them ok. But it's also crazy to think that this isn't a big change, because it is. I think it is going to affect the economy quite significantly and I do think it's going to make it much harder for new players to feel comfortable.

Anyhow, those are just some of my thoughts on it, it always sounds more eloquent in my head than when I try to write it out so I hope it's not too unbearable to read.

yea its definitely discouraging, i think the wackest part about the whole thing is when i read up on crafting on the official summary page on here, the subless HQ's was touted as if it was some great planned feature of the server, then i read the update that crafting HQ tiers are "fixed" i didnt even know what that meant since the subless HQ was implied as intended. i musta lost like 100-200k trying to HQ the same ol shit not understanding why i was getting killed on HQ

at least your craft isnt as dependent on subs as mine is.. >< gold will always be yuge profit if you can get it up there

what's also going to suck is that this spike in HQ prices is gonna slow down both supply AND demand in a lot of cases

Well I don't think GS is going to be my focus anymore but I totally understand how other crafts are more dependent on subs. Looks like you'll just want to get all the subs to 60 now. Cooking is looking appealing once again.

I'll also acknowledge 100% that starting GS as a new player is pretty foolish. It's something that I might come back to in the future when I have another income stream to help support it. But when your highest job is 31 WAR and you're trying to 'focus' on GS as a craft, that's not really the best and most effective way to use your time :)

Nas hasn't touched anything on the wiki. Ever. It's completely player written and run.

I think you should keep going. You're right on the cusp of having an easier time than you may realize. Once you get through the Mythril tier, you'll get a good 20-level break of entirely farmable and somewhat easy recipes, though you will need a higher job level be able to farm the necessary materials and take advantage. Here are the recipes in question should you wish to use them:

32-39 Mythril Ingots [ 4x Mythril Ore] I recommend farming gil and buying the ore at 1500g a pop from the guild as the fastest route, though you can certainly mine as well.
39-47 Gold Dust [1x Brass Ingot, 1x Copper Ingot] Cheap AF to make, NPC it all to quickly recoup a good bit of the cost.
47-51 Gold Ingots [Farm 4x Gold Beastcoin or de-synth Gold Orcmasks farmed from Orcish Troopers in Davoi.]
51-58 Gold Hairpin [1x Gold Ingot] Remember to de-synth these as well for additional skill/recycle materials.
58-60 Gold Arrowheads [1x Gold Ingot, 1x Copper Ingot]

Hopefully by the time your character is high enough to be able to support farming for the above, Nasomi will have fixed anything wrong with crafting skill-ups.

Is it confirmed there is something wrong currently with crafting skill-ups? Like since the latest update?

Nothing is confirmed until Nasomi makes a statement on it, hence my vague word choice.
