So I came across a strange error last night on one of my characters and I was able to resolve the issue, but I wanted to leave this post here in case anyone else has the same problem in the future.

I was logged in to both my chars, #1 was passively seeking party while #2 was actively fishing. A storm rolled in and knocked out my power while I was logged in and upon logging back in I began to have an issue only with char #2, the game kept freezing and Windows would give "boot.exe has stopped working" message. After some testing I narrowed the problem down to a specific macro line. I could scroll through every macro line except line 2, as soon as I tried going to line 2 the game would instantly freeze up and char #2 would crash. It didn't matter if I was holding alt or ctrl or even accessing the macro menu to try and edit it, all resulted in the crash. The only way I was able to solve this issue was by deleting my macros for char #2 via the install directory. You can do this by going into: SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER folder, here you'll find a couple folders representing each character, however, they are not named after your character; instead the folders are named with seemingly random letters and numbers, for example: e81b. I figured out which folder belonged to char #2 by creating a backup folder on my desktop and Cut+Pasting the "mcr.dat" files out of the folder then logging in to check if my macros were still there. The macro files are named mcr1.dat, mcr2.dat, etc. In order to solve my problem I had to delete all of my macros from this folder.
