Today I experienced a connection issue when logging into my account via Ashita. All day I was getting stuck at the "Downloading Data" black screen after character selection. This also happened when zoning between highly populated areas (cities, dunes, etc.).

I have tried resetting my router/modem, and a even a complete re-install. Unfortunately this issue has persisted through all of that. Roughly 12 hours of trying on and off today.

Any suggestions? Would love to get back on the grind. Thank you!

Working fix for anyone stuck at black "Downloading Data" screen:

Try a VPN service to generate a new IP.

Since this seemed to be a network related issue on my end (Nas Server was up all day with normal population), I tried using a free VPN service to generate a fresh IP address. This worked! and I am now able to connect and play as usual. Hope this helps someone someday

When it happens again you need to "clear session" under the account section and under maintenance.
When it says "offline" there you can log in again.

Clear session isn’t working. My character is stuck as well downloading data.

I don't know if this will fix it, but I'll share my experience.

Sometimes I get stuck with a black loading screen too, either from logging in or changing zones, and none of the options from the website can fix it.

When it happens, I quickly open another window, and try to login to the same character with the second window. The second window will usually go through, and all is good. The first window will still be black with the load screen, and I just close it afterwards.

Is your characters last known location Port Windurst? If it is, that zone has been crashed and down for a few hours. I was in Norg and forgot and made the mistake of using a warp scroll forgetting that my home point was in Port Windurst. Now I'm stuck on the downloading screen and nothing I do can log in that char. My alt from Sandy logs in fine. I even took it to Windurst and tried zoning into Port Windurst and it gets spit right out into Windurst Woods. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.
