Last time I played was around April of this year, and I want to start up again, but any time I log-in and hit Accept after the opening cinematic, the progress bar sits on "Setting up Connection" for a bit before giving me the error message FFXI-3113. Sometimes it instantly gives me a different error message, FFXI-3101. I've recycled my modem/router, restarted PC, and disabled firewall but to no avail. Internet connection is fine.

Any help/advice?

Got it to work, had to get the newest installer (currently v17).

Could you explain how to get newest installer? Haven't played in 8 months and have the new installer downloaded but not sure where to put it?

You run the installer.bat file to install the game. It's in the instructions in the folder you downloaded with the installer.

I'm in the same predicament. Played for a short time about a year ago and now when I launch the game I get stuck on "setting up connection". I've looked all over the folder I originally downloaded and I can't find installer.bat. Can you tell me specifically where the file is?

Are you stuck on creating a character, or logging in to an existing one?

After launching the Ashita client and successfully logging in, the FFXI game client launches. I press "Accept" in FFXI, and immediately the game flashes through a few load bars, and gets stuck on "Setting up connection." I created a character a year ago, but I'm not able to get to the part where I can select that character, or create a different character.

It sounds to me like you need to download the newest installer like Vista mentioned near the top of the thread. I'd give that a try.
