Hey all,

New to FFXI, but fairly well versed in mmos.

I'm a bit confused about how the chat functions work. In most games I've played you press a key like "spacebar" or "enter" to pull up a chat window (you will usually see a blinking cursor), and then you type a message (and you can see the message as you type it), but that seems to not be the case with FFXI. Furthermore, it seems like when I do manage to type something, I need to hit enter about 10 times before I can see the message that I typed.

The whole thing is very confusing. I tried to google this but it seems no one else has really talked about anything other than /chat commands in terms of FAQ stuff.

anyone have any tips? is there any way to see what you're typing before you send the message?

It sounds like your UI is cut off.
