I installed NasomiXi to play here. Everything was working fine. Until one day I decided that I wanted to play on another private server (so I could test some things out) and I wasn't able to connect to any other private server. I'm not sure if I would've been able to connect on retail either. Eventually I decided that I needed to reinstall FFXI, Ashita still wasn't able to connect (v3 or the v2 provided in NasomiXi) unless to Nasomi--it would just say "closing" and nothing would happen after that. Windower though started to work again. I finished the testing that I wanted to do and decided to join my brother for a night of XI. I wasn't able to join though.

Now the roles are reversed I can connect to other private servers but not Nasomi. So I figured maybe I could convince it to connect through windower. So it connects and I thought everything was ok despite it not showing the Nasomi pol splash screen. Until I turned in a bat quest. I got a message that said I needed to clear 120 inventory spots when turning in the Rabbit Hide quest in San D'oria. I tried to trade again which is when I realized what happened. The TextIDs weren't meshing up properly between the client and server. So I checked the /ver and it displayed 30180604_0 and I think the proper version is 3017 something.

When I try to login to Nasomi with Ashita v2 this is what I get: https://photos.app.goo.gl/54FwCRL5BHkuEXB48

For Windower in settings.xml I have
Code:
  <profile name="Nasomi">
    <consolekey>Insert</consolekey>
    <uiscale>1</uiscale>
    <args>--server nasomi.com --user xxxxxx --pass xxxxxxx --hairpin</args>
    <executable>B:\\Program Files (x86)\\NasomiXI\\SquareEnix\\Ashita\\ffxi-bootmod\\pol.exe</executable>
  </profile>

I've also tried boot.exe and I have xiloader so I've also tried the full path to that. ( B:\Program Files (x86)\NasomiXI\SquareEnix\PlayOnlineViewer\xiloader.exe )
For Nasomi's Config I have
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
<settings>
  <setting name="config_name">Nasomi 1080p</setting>
  <setting name="auto_close">True</setting>
  <setting name="language">2</setting>
  <setting name="pol_version">2</setting>
  <setting name="test_server">False</setting>
  <setting name="log_level">4</setting>
  <setting name="windowed">True</setting>
  <setting name="show_border">False</setting>
  <setting name="unhook_mouse">True</setting>
  <setting name="window_x">1920</setting>
  <setting name="window_y">1080</setting>
  <setting name="startpos_x">-1</setting>
  <setting name="startpos_y">-1</setting>
  <setting name="background_x">1920</setting>
  <setting name="background_y">1080</setting>
  <setting name="menu_x">1920</setting>
  <setting name="menu_y">1080</setting>
  <setting name="boot_file">.\\ffxi-bootmod\\boot.exe</setting>
  <setting name="boot_command">--server nasomi.com --user xxxxxxx --pass xxxxxxx --hairpin</setting>
  <setting name="startup_script">Default.txt</setting>
  <setting name="d3d_presentparams_buffercount">1</setting>
  <setting name="d3d_presentparams_swapeffect">1</setting>
</settings>

Any ideas?

Update: I tried running the bat file to re-register NasomiXi's files to registry. While it was running I realized it referenced c:\ as the file path so I decided to copy and paste the folder to the C:\... file path. I reran the bat file (NasomiDLL.bat). There were no changes. I'm reinstalling Nasomiv20 but on the installer it says it is Nasomiv19 so I'm really not sure which version I have.

Update 2: Reinstalling NasomiXi appears to have worked. I haven't tried to switch between the two but that's for another day. I'll update once I test running the bat files and switching.

The link in my post works just fine for me and so does the one you linked.

To the OP: you can't just connect to different servers easily. Windows doesn't allow for it if they're on different versions without problems, as the same DLLs are registered.

If you install retail, or any other server, you break nasomi, and vice versa. Always. The swap on the wiki WORKS FINE if you READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Every time.

Yeah I wasn't saying that the links I posted were broken just meant it's a little difficult to get there. The link from the main page points to https://nasomi.com/wiki/ which results in a 403 error (forbidden). On http://nasomi.com/wiki/index.php?title= ... asomi_swap there's a dead link to "You need to re-register the proper DLLs to launch the correct version." which points to https://nasomi.com/wiki/index.php?title ... asomi_swap which again is 403 error.

I thought there was some mention somewhere that in Nasomi v20 it didn't interfere with retail so I just assumed that it somehow fixed those issues (I thought it somehow registered NasomiXi in registry and was able to use that somehow). I imagine it'd be incredibly difficult to register under NasomiXi and modify the software to read from different registry keys.

Oh well I now have the bat files and have everything I need if and when I need to switch back. Last time I was testing a patch for Darkstar Project.

None of the links are 403 errors for me.

Nasomi is fully separated from all other FFXI installs (retail, or other servers) in the registry, but windows still sees their DLLs, which have the same CLSIDs and you need the correct DLL to be registered to run the game. Windows only uses the latest registered DLL if they have the same CLSID. It is not trivial to change the CLSIDs of DLLs.

So, you at least don't lose your registry settings for retail/other servers when installing nas (or vice versa) now (which included all your graphical settings, controller settings etc), but you still need to re-register the proper DLLs to switch between which you want to launch.

Nas could trivially include registering the proper DLLs in his launcher to launch nasomi, but retail doesn't do that, and other servers don't either - only on install, so it's tricky. The retail/nasomi swap gives you the tools to register which you need to, when you need to.
