I am wondering if anyone has tried to get FF11 Nasomi to work on a tablet and how successful it was. I'd like to try and see if i could get that done. Work be cool to hope on the nearby Hotel WiFi and play while I'm at lunch.

It used to work with Windows 10 Tablets. Nas posted pictures of it on the Facebook page 2 years ago. I'm sure it still does.

Nasomi has done it on the Teclast X80, but framerates are a bit rough on even the lowest settings. Crafting, AH, solo stuff you can get by on from what I hear. They are around $100 + the cost of bluetooth keyboard, stand/case, etc. Or you could go the route of a used surface pro off ebay. They can be had for $130-200. I have a surface pro2 and pull a solid 30fps at all times playing at 1600x900 without reducing the quality of the graphics.

Whichever route you want to go is up to you, but I'd side with the surface if you don't mind the additional size.

Here's a link for SP's on ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... 500%7C3000

You might have good luck on your local craigslist as well.

I purchased a Chuwi Hi8 Pro about half a year ago for a reason similar to this. It cost me less than $100 bucks when i bought it, and its surprisingly responsive under the right circumstances.

I'll explain some specific settings and features I have, and give you a general idea of how well it works for me. You can decide from there how well something similar would work for you.

https://www.amazon.com/CHUWI-Hi8-Pro-Wi ... B019XI0932

Here are the important stats:

Screen Size 8 inch
Resolution 1920x1200 (16:10)
RAM 2GB (SDRAM @1666mHz)
ROM 32GB
CPU Intel Atom Cherry Trail Z8350 Quad Core 1.44GHz ~ 1.84GHz (set power mode to Balanced to achieve higher cpu clock speeds on a single core)
OS Windows 10, Android 5.1 (Dual operating systems... I guess its alright but android 5.1 doesnt support some newer apps)
WLAN 802.11 b/g/n wireless internet (much better signal at a distance than some tablets i've had)
Bluetooth Yes (4.0, up to three devices)
TF Card Slot Supported (up to 32GB..., or 64GB external drive)
G-sensor Supported
Interfaces Type-C (USB 2.0), 3.5mm headphone jack, Micro HDMI

So, when i played ffxi on it, i had background and window resolution set to 768x480 (16:10), and the menu resolution set to 960x540 (16:10). The interface reduces framerate very rapidly with increased resolution settings. I suggest you keep it at what I have or less - especially if you hang around in town. With in-game settings set to a minimum, you will see framerate hover from as low as 9 (densely populated areas + interface in use) to as high as 42fps (sparsely populated, hide interface button on controller used, /fps 1). The average framerate is reasonable - around 15fps in windurst (again, with minimum graphical settings) and 25 in the field. I even took myself to camp fafhogg one evening, and although you might be able to function at 6fps, it really makes something as simple as targeting to be a real pain in the butt. The more you turn down that resolution and deal with it, the quicker the game will function. If you were ever on a ps2 and played on a 4:3 screen, you know what i'm talking about in terms of resolution.

There are some other ways to decrease the cpu usage of windows, as well as set core affinity for open programs. See the following video for details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5v3g4ZPOeQ

If I was to buy another tablet for ffxi, i would definitely go for 4gb RAM instead of 2... just sayin'.

With this tablet, I suggest a bluetooth compatible gamepad and keyboard, and also a type-c cable that can actually transfer data.

Late to the party, but I bought that Teclast and have never been able to get XI running on it. I got the install process started, once upon a time, but I couldn't get it to actually install. I might dig it out of storage and try again. It'd be nice to be able to fish/craft/mine on the go!

That $650 price tag though. The GPD WIN was a hard pill to swallow at $300, and while the 2 boasts better graphics capabilities, I wouldn't be doing anything super hardcore on it anyway. I like my 11" macbook air, it's about the perfect size and they can be had second hand for $200-300 on ebay.

A small laptop probably is the better way to go for this purpose. Certainly cheaper than a Surface Pro typically.

Yeah that is a major draw back, it'll be a bit before the price drops too...its just such a cool little set up.

Severe necro bump
Has anyone gotten a gpd win 2 and got Nasomi up and running on it?
I'm considering a laptop for relaxed farming/fishing but a ls mate mentioned this handheld pc. Now I'm interested.
