Hey, I just recently started playing on Nasomi and was saddened to realize my favorite pass-time was bugged: fishing.

I skilled up in Selbina, and noticed each skill up would say I reached level "0" in fishing.
When I checked the crafting menu, the skill would display as level 1, then level 2, and so on.
I fished until level 3, then left the zone.
Later I realized my skill had reset to 0.

I thought it was just a visual bug, so I manually kept track of the skill myself whenever I would skillup (in game would still always display a level of "0" each time I skilled up)

But again, after leveling some, then logging out, when I logged back in my fishing was reset to 0.

It seems each time I zone or log out after fishing from 1-5 in Selbina, my skill resets to 0.

Please help, fishing is my one and only enjoyable craft and was a big part of my itch when returning after so many years!

You were not actually fishing level 3.

I've explained this before, but it's been a while:
Nas sends the packet that tells you your total level each time you're getting any fractional (.1, .2, .3) skillup on fishing. This is a mistake.
The game client increments your fishing level by 1 each time it sees that. It's only expecting to see it each whole-level you increased, not each fractional.

When you zone, you see your real skill in the menu because it corrects itself to the server's value.

It should be taking you about an entire day, if not longer, to go from 0-5 fishing in selbina, nor an hour or two.
