Pretty much long story short, I took a break from ffxi, came back to find my character was stripped down to nothing, all boxes were empty, gil was gone, linkshells were dropped. I never gave my password out so I was just wondering if there was some sort of character wipe or anything in the past few months? Otherwise someone got into my stuff without my consent. Not asking for stuff back, but i'd love a password change and a name change if all possible. So confused right now as to what I should do.

First question is, how long ago was the break?

#1: GrindHouse (old server link shell) got broken and a new one had to be made. So MogHouse is the new location for your server wide conversations.
#2: As to money, there was a change, but it wouldn't have impacted all of your gil.
#3: Lastly, if you kept items in your mog wardrobe, this was disabled after a lot of warnings and all items in the storage slots are likely gone for good.

Second question is, are you sure that no one else, even flatmates/roommates/exs didn't have access to your account?

In my experience anytime that an MMO account gets owned, it's because highly liekly it's one of these reasons -

* It was really shared or someone you know was over at your place and saw your log in information and gained access that way
* Or someone you know (from in the game) was able to guess your information based on social engineering
* You were high/drunk and forgot you owned your own account
* RMT gained access and robbed you so that they can make money selling your gil (unlikely)
