Discord has a harassment problem. One of the reasons I play here is because people don't harass me as much.

A poorly managed discord is contrary to my reasons to be here.

I wouldn't mind moderating a discord server if people are interested in using it.

It's incredibly easy to assign ranks and permissions to people. You can give regular members permission to only post text if it becomes an issue. There used to be a Nasomi Discord and I don't remember any issues with it. It certainly would allow Nas to manage his PM's much easier than the no history 1992 IRC crap we've had up to this point.

Huh? IRC chat history persists indefinitely as long as the client is open, or can be logged to file permanently, or one can set up a bounce server for themselves which logs all chat while you are offline and serves it up to you when you come online.

Your problem with PMs is probably a personal problem, as the nasomi channel title says "Dont PM me"

I rarely visit the IRC, but back when I played more I used to talk to Nas quite often. His issue is more with the notification ding and the derps sending him PM's than anything. Discord is a much more useful tool for admins and users alike. The only thing he may lose out on is the ability to monitor the IP of any given user. My post was mainly to point out that harassment with images or links could easily be a non-issue.

We'll probably have a new IRC before long, so if you are anxiously awaiting the day when you can again open a tab to the blinding white of the IRC window and squint as the brightness pierces your soul, worry not.

The channel isn't down, just the shitty flash web app has been nuked, there's a million different and still maintained irc client software, most with configurable colors/themes.

I'm not joining the argument of Discord vs. irc, I use both honestly, but you're spouting some total nonsense
