Just downloaded everything last night, got to log in screen, lets me choose 1, then try to log on character, says something about a hairpin then next line says "closing..." not sure what I did wrong. It let me create a character first, then when I tried to log in have problem trying to actually log in.

It could also be directplay not enabled - control panel -> programs + features -> turn windows features on/off -> legacy components
