Serious question: If everyone is partying in the dunes, and the dunes is currently setup as the best place to get EXP.... What exactly is better about going somewhere else for the sheer fact of being different? If you want to make friends, shouldn't you probably goto the place with everyone else in it?
What is better about going somewhere else?
More often then not you hear people complain and/or being annoyed about the fact that the dunes is overcrowded and there's no place to setup camp. Dunes might/is the best place for EXP but if you can't get into a party or it is impossible to setup camp anywhere in the dunes you're not getting any of that "best EXP". You could either wait for a long time for something to open up in the dunes standing idle while doing so or you could go to the other side of the water (for example) and join/start a party there. It might not be the absolute best EXP possible but to me that party experience and EXP you get is far better then "stubbornly" standing idle in the dunes waiting for something to open up as that is supposedly the only viable thing to do.
Knock yourself out and have a great time and EXP in the dunes when there's space for you and your party. If not.. try to be a bit "open minded" and look around you for other camp spots to have a nice gaming experience. That is all I'm saying.

Also: Saying we should fight mobs that don't behave like the mobs that we fought in era (Gobs for example) because it was possible in era is a really narrow mindset, that you said you hate.
So i read in other places too that Nas mobs are not always comparable with their retail era counterparts. I can't seem to find any information though on why exactly those "tweaks" are made and what Nas is hoping to accomplish with those "tweaks". Why "tweak" something that narrows down the content available to the players at a certain level?
Secondly I never said I hate anything, that is entirely your own conclusion.

You have a really weird mindset about the other players on the server, and it's disappointing. The majority of the content of the game is post level 30. Just because you want to play the game one way, doesn't mean anyone else does. Most people would like to get past level 30 so that they can actually enjoy all the game has to offer, and the current best way to do that is blazing through the dunes for a night or two and being level 30.
I wouldn't call it weird, but that's an entirely other discussion

I don't say how anyone should play the game. I'm just saying that I find it kind of counterproductive when people are complaining and/or being annoyed about overcrowded dunes and so unable to get parties or camp spots while at the same time they don't do anything to (partially) solve that issue by being a bit more open minded (touchy subject apparently) and fan out looking and making use of other camp spots available somewhere else.
There's not much "blazing" when it's overcrowded and you just standing there waiting for an opening.

For someone that wishes everyone had a wildly more open mind, and hates that everyone has such a narrow mindset, you sure do only consider one way of playing the "right" way.
Again I never said I hate anything or anyone. Please stop turning your own personal thoughts/conclusions into something that I supposedly have said.
I never said and never will say what a player can do or can't do. If a player decides he/she wants to stand idle in the dunes waiting for something to open up be my guest, I will be the last person to force or tell that player to do something else. But some of those players will eventually grow tired of the waiting and just leave the game completely thinking it is all FFXI has to offer. That imho is just a shame and not necessary as FFXI has more to offer then just that if you're willing to look for it.
That is where an "issue" of FFXI might come to light that imho requires a different mindset then what most might be used to.
FFXI is designed to be like a sandbox. You're not guided through the content and the game doesn't play itself. The player is required to "make" the content, to "make" your own game, nobody is going to do that for you.
