Also Ariel sounds like the kind of person who achieves absolutely nothing in life and blames it on everyone else. It is an insult to the worlds best mermaid who adventures and perseveres despite her overbearing father and a manipulative sea-witch. 0/10.

Haha I sense a little self projection with this one.

Wow they say use composite rod you do realize that its 35k on the AH no newbie is going to be able to afford that.

35k is not a lot of gil... nabutso just posted a great guide to making newbie gil in any starting area. Use that until you save up for a composite rod, or as others have suggested just start off with a clothespole, which using my guide will take you to level 16 fishing. By then you might even have the gil you need for a comp rod. Stop expecting literally anything in this game to be handed to you. If you want it to be easy, this is not the game for you.

Actually we're pointing out a flaw in the skill up for newbies, it skips out on very profitable for Moat carp in early levels which allows even complete newbies to jump straight into guild making and fund their fishing and their low level gear; all while being 80% as fast.

Whether that's a flaw or not depends entirely on your goal. If someone wants to make money early - moat carp. If they want to hurry passed those first few levels and get to ~28 where they can make money without relying on the AH - Sabiki rig in Port Jeuno/Selbina/Mhuara etc. Or they can flip back and forth as needed. No harm in fishing for money one session and skill ups the next. That's basically what I do now.

If you're wanting to do this to level woodworking, I'd say little worms in zeruhn mines should do the trick. I don't know about clothespoles for sure but the black eels will snap a Haly rod no problem. I can't remember but you may even keep your lure when your rod breaks, if that's the case, I'd use a worm lure.

Thanks! I'll give it a try. That is of course the goal (WW levels) :)

I couldn't get eels to even hit on clothespole, I skipped that method as repairing rod breaks can loose the rod here unlike in era. If you're deadset on that WW route maybe try a fly lure in carpenters landing I don't know if you'll actually get hits, but it can break a comp rod whatever it is (I suspect it's logs).

Black eels as vendor fish. You can also catch Nebimonite from the ship between Selbina and Mhaura for some stuff to throw on the AH. I think I was also doing Cone Calamari & Zafmlug Bass in Bibiki Bay and splitting the catch between vendors & AH.

I'm a bit of an oddball when it comes to fishing. Can't sit in one place every single session, have to change it up every now and then lol.

Edit: for Eel I used the setup in Lyce's guide. For Nebimonite I used a shrimp lure, and I wanna say I used a minnow lure for the Calamari/Bass. And I think you can catch Gugru Tuna when fishing on the boat w/ that setup. They don't stack, but vendor fairly well.

Well, now I'm less hopeful it's going to work. I was snapping Halycon rods in E. Saruta no problem with shrimp lure, but trying to do the same with Clothespole the line would break instead. I'll probably try both of your suggestions either way just to see.

If there's a better alternative for the 70's of WW I'm all ears :)
