Hi guys

Old FFXI player (previously Danny on Asura, currently Caliburn on Asura). I have a retail subscription at the moment but I'm finding the game very empty compared to how it used to be. It's a long road to get to endgame to actually be able to group with people. I was previously "against" (or not completely in favour of) private servers but yesterday, running through the Dunes, I started to realise that the old game I knew and loved could not be recreated today.

Except that it can, and is, in the form of Nasomi.

I downloaded Nasomi last night and was instantly super excited to play. My usual names were taken so I've gone with Zerion (wouldn't be my favourite username ever but I didn't want to spend hours thinking of another).

Got a couple of hours in last night and I'm already loving the brutality of the old school game. No more rushing to max level without gil or gear, I actually have to plan a route for my character, decide what's feasible and what's not. I wanted to level Mage classes first but I need gil for spells, so need to level a melee class first. And then it's, do I need THF for TH? Should I go for TH2? But then I need NIN sub... So much to think about that isn't important in Retail these days! It's brutal but I'm loving it.

Super excited to get to Dunes and start partying with people. Already found a friendly and helpful linkshell. Can't wait to log in again tonight!

Just out of interest, is there any possibility of my forum username being changed to match my character's name? Caliburn is actually another user's character name, though I was planning to use it before I found out. No biggy if not possible.
