Hey all, I'm brand new to Nasomi (HI!). I haven't played for many many years so I'm trying to get all my settings up to speed.

One thing I can't figure out how to do on Nasomi is how to get a 21:9 aspect ratio. If I remember correctly there were some addons back in the day [such as Windower and XIView], but neither are designed to launch/work with Nasomi.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You can set a 21:9 ratio if you want in ashita but you cant set 21:9 ingame. So things will look stretched.

Hmm, I see. I did notice a section in Ashita for addons; do you think there is any way to get Windower to work with Ashita through that menu?

No. What I just said isn't an addon. Besides, Windower is a launcher, not an addon. However, the nas launcher is the only authorized one. Windower isn't allowed.

Don't confuse window size with aspect ratio. The window size can be anything you want, however for it to look proper, you must match one of the fixed in game aspect ratio's in the start > config menu. There's no aftermarket way to override that aspect ratio that i've found, and believe me, I've looked. It seems pre-set in the client, and there's no way to alter it outside the client.

It is possible to fix aspect ratio, although text will still be stretched. With windower config plugin. No idea how it would be done with ashita.

Now I am confused ;). What was it that I said that made you think I was confusing window size with aspect ratio?

So, Windower does allow custom aspect ratios and I got the game up and running at 21:9 [on another private server] last night - which is kind of unfortunate because Nasomi appears to have a great community. I just don't want to play the game stretched (at 16:9) on my 21:9 monitor.

Of course I don't expect the Nasomi team to insert 21:9 support into Ashita just for me, but I hope this gets added in the future. :)

I play on a 21:9 monitor and I must say, the stretching doesn't look all that bad. One thing that helps tremendously (imo) is the upgraded font/symbols pack. It makes the game look extra crispy, even if stretched. Put that on a skillet, toss in some HD overhaul dat files, spice it up with some Reshade adjustments and BAM! you got yourself one spicy game that's good for the whole family.

Side note: I do keep menu resolution at the peasant 1920x1080. I'm a healer so I need to see health bars easier :(

That does sound pretty cool. Can you toss me some links to the addons you mentioned?

I'm at work, so a lot of the sites are blocked for me. But if you Youtube 'FFXI HD Overhaul', the files come from that channel...he also has a megapack updated monthly so you can just use that file to install. The font pack i'm unsure of the name (can find out for sure once I'm home) but I can almost guarantee someone in your LS uses it. I see it all the time on streams, etc. Google can help too.

Careful using the term "addon" on the forums. It makes people feel uncomfortable :D
