fishing

I'm level 31 pally and just trying to make some money to be able to fund my grind.(just basic equipment so I can tank)
I've visited all the links I've given (and more for sure) and I'm just not making anything.

Everyone has told me fishing but I just can't do it. I can't play the game if that's what I'm going to be doing, I invested ~10 hours into it and stopped playing for months because the next day I just didn't want to get on and do that and I've already leveled up the jobs that I want to level up.(To like 20 considering I can't afford gear past that)

Most of the information in (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=756) & (https://www.almarsguides.com/ffxi/farming/) is outdated even though someone on the IRC chat also told me to just follow those guides. Today I spent about 5 hours filling my inventory of birds bloods and went to sell them. Then I realized they were only selling for 150 in my home town Sandy. It was then confirmed to me on the IRC that it was nerfed a long time ago.
At this point I'm probably going to look into mining but I just don't have the drive to even look into that because someone explained to me that I need to get into a mining guild/group to make good money out of it.

I played FFXI back when I was 12 (I'm 27 now) and it was my favorite game for the majority of my life. All other games paled in comparison but I didn't have the money to continue playing it considering I was a kid. That being said I would love to continue playing but I.Just.Can't.Seem.To.Make.Gil.In.Any.Way. I'm not looking to make millions, I'm not looking to make hundreds of thousands, I'm looking to make like 50k in a reasonable amount of time. A day. Farming birds blood at this rate would take literally 10 hours or so of straight farming to be able to afford SOME basic gear.

Again I have asked at least 30 people about making money and it's always the same, "fish". Which I cannot do.

You have to come up with your own ideas if you don't want to NPC grind. Period. Here are some lesser known ones but noone is going to give away their jackpot of gil tricks.

* You can buy a scroll of Stune from the AH for 2k at time of writing (I just bought one) and sell it to the NPC for 3060 (or I can) This is a 1k profit per scroll. There are multiple scrolls you can do this with -- research them and buy a few at a time. You can make 3-4k every few mins for a few trips. I made a lot of gil starting out doing this. Every week, I could make 10-20k in 30 minutes just trolling select items.

* More AH arbitrage but more risky: buy stacks of things and sell them as singles. Or do it in reverse. For example, you can get silk threads for 400 ea. on the AH right now. A stack is 12 and sells for 8k. Buy singles for 400 each if you can and then sell the stack for 8k. Richer players don't bother buying singles -- they need a lot at once. Some risk since prices can change. Easy 3k, maybe 5 mins of work.

Ask people if you want to check Nasomi values. I am happy to do this for you, /tell Vaughands PM me or find me.

* BCNMs. If you like leveling, level a ton of jobs to 10-20 and get beastmen seals. Some of the 20s drop items worth cash. Astral Rings for one. Ni ain't worth what it used to be or Erase but you can still get 50-60k a run if it goes well in 30s.

* Craft. There are some crafts you can do @ a profit in lower levels, but it will take some reading.

* Farm scrolls you don't need right now. Do the teleport scroll quests. Do the aspir quest. Sell the scrolls.

* Level WHM to 18 (you can do this without much gear just some spells). Go to the dunes, shout you will outside heal for 10k hour

* Camp an NM. You can kill leaping lizzy probably if that's your thing, but it's fierce.

None of this is going to make you rich. But like you said, you don't want to be rich. You just want some gear.

At the risk of being flamed, there is at least a few people doing this considering the amount of stock of some items...

There are people who are using their alt slot to print money from Justice Badge's: https://ffxiclopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Tr ... _Onion_Way!

tldr; remake your alt over and over (if you don't use it) if you are quick in 15 mins, you do a single run. Have your main ready to trade rails or w.e. 4 runs and AH them, they go for 6k a pop. Judging by the time "time on AH" for Justice Badge from "Xolar" for example and the fact that they never buy them, they must be printing them via new chars. That's 25k/ hour

If you search the "Xolar" user, you can find they are also doing the sequel, "Know One's Onions" for Blaze Spikes. So they are likely doing both at once. If I had to guess, in an hour or two the user is probably clearing 32k an hour if they move quick easily, plus other drops from leveling 1-5

Not 100% sure if this is legal, but there are people doing it for sure.

fishing is mindless and doesn't really impact anyone's personal market - it's a timesink that literally prints gil, that's why so many people recommend it

black tiger fangs are the only other thing i can really think of that'd be viable if you've got no gil to invest into leveling a craft and don't like fishing, just go war/thf or pld/thf if that's what you've got and do this quest https://ffxiclopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Tiger%27s_Teeth

you may be able to flip cheap lowbie items on the AH for more than they're sold at vendors but that'll be slow

real key is crafting though, get into that as soon as you can and start looking at recipes and the prices of things. probably stay away from goldsmithing though since it gets really expensive really fast.

Goldsmithing gets expensive fast, but the very first ingot you can make is profitable.

as low lvl as u are u better farm mobs , farm bees , crawlers , yagudos , all those stack so u can farm for a while .

U can try luck with Nms , but if u dont see it or dont get the claim all that time is wasted.

If u want to craft , low lvl recipes are "profitable" if u farm your stuff , copper ingots for example , kill woms > convert ore > ingot > profit

cooking is cheap as hell and can help u , for example low lvl juice as pld helps when farming your own mp + juicie = 2-3mp/ tick , can keep healing w/o needing to rest :D

once u are higher lvl u can farm better mobs (Tigers like Bodey said , 3 fangs = 2100 on sandy = plus reputation) add leathers and u are gaining some gil :D

Scrolls too (quested scrolls are expensive if u arent going to lvl soon those jobs u can do quest sell it and if needed buy the scrolls later maybe even cheaper) , or scrolls drops , i farmed in 30min , like 4 reraise on beadaux , thats 24k gil for almost no work

Pld isnt that expensive , armor and weapons come from conquest if u are from bastok or sandy there are tons of CP items.

Best way I've seen for new players to come across gil these days is make an alt, get it to whm or rdm 25 with or without sub doesn't matter, just to sneak and invis itself. Then play your main while HELMF with your alt. Mining will get you plenty of gil to hit the 50s with pretty quick, by the time you're in the 50s mining should have paid off enough to get at least a decent basic exp set to hit 75 with, not to mention the breaks in exp for lv1-2-3 and maat. This is the advice I give to new players anyways. If you only sell the more ludicrous ores on your alt, you can mule the lesser ores and even jumpstart your alts smithing skill into to 30's and 40's by using crystals from your mains exp pts.
