You can keep trying tp be like retail, but they got it wrong often as well, remember this line in every patch note betweeb 2007 and 2009 *Rebalancing*. It would be much more productively focusedto reach out to the community for ideas on a balancing goal, then hit that goal and leave balance alone. All of the
steps SE took to nerf this or nerf that (this is a nerf) broke the jobs from ever being played in most cases. Now people that could have came a RNG to any kill event, and had fun doing it, will likely be trolled for suggesting it, and given the advice to level something useful. Narrow input streams lead development to forget there's more happening here than just pressing buttons. You're usually on a team, and if development has broken a key position in that team, then you're not inhibiting the team, you're just making it harder for the player in that position to enjoy the game.

Real advice though, find a goal for balance and stick with it. Bouncing things around like SE did is no fun for anyone, and development is being sidetracked to do petty things like this RNG nerf.

Anyone notice any TP changes with the patch?

Yesterday, with 34 Store TP (Traits, Merits, Gear), 420 delay GK. I was getting 143 TP per swing. Now I'm getting 134 per swing post patch.

Level 1 job with a 218 delay Sword. Should be getting 59 TP per swing. Getting 51 per swing post patch.

Edit:

So I've fiddled around with stuff and the TP returns I'm getting today are the same values I'd get if I used a weapon with 30 less delay.

30 Delay is about half a second in real world time which is inline with the change Nasomi made.

Is this intended? If so, this has a big ripple effect on gear choices and merits compared to retail.

So he fixed a bug that wasn't a bug. Got it.

REPORTED AS ISSUES:

• Fishing spots can "dry up", if you don't catch anything after a while, try a new spot!
• Ranged calculations have been reworked to have an optimal range! Short bow, long bow, cross bow, gun, and throwing weapons all have different optimum ranges. Certain distances will be better, some will be worse.
• OWNM's should no longer cause zone crashes if you mistakenly zone them.
• Fixed a bug where you might homepoint unintentionally.
• Fixed a bug where cover might cause you to crash.
• Fixed a bug where all melee weapons had an unintended additional delay of 500ms.
• Fixed a bug with hundred fists delay wasn't being calculated properly.
• Fixed a bug where you would lock up while fishing.

Ranged TP attacks have been this way for over a year now, so I'd venture to guess nothing will be done about this either. (watch me be wrong, and melee TP gets fixed immediately while leaving ranged unchanged LUL)

Just want to give a little insight here.

I am new, I started the game back after thanksgiving. I was Ranger main back in retail days and I decided I was going to level Ranger on Nasomi also. I didn't want to level Ranger until I could farm up enough gil for a Eurytos' Bow as I got one at 75 back in retail and wanted to have one to level with once I hit 55. So I farmed quite a bit and fished quite a bit. Last week I bought an Ebow for 3 million gil and started leveling Ranger two days ago. Now Ranger has been nerfed (you say it's not a nerf, but it is) and I'm sitting here with a 3 million gil bow that I just bought that is going to tank in value.

I find it quite suspicious that both you and Nasomi said that it wasn't going to be a nerf, yet in the live QA he dropped that whole "let's see if you even want it after Monday" line. That seems to me that he absolutely knew this was going to be a nerf.

My question is why? What was the point of this? There are so many other bugs that should be fixed in this game why did Nas decide that he needed to work on Ranger? All this is going to do is steer people away from playing the job and we're just going to see more Sams running around.

Also the fishing bug where you freeze is still there. It just happened to me.

If you think it will go down, cut your losses and undercut now.

People assume that the current strong job won't get nerfed until it happens, SAM will get slammed with a "weapon skill rebalance" or "TP rework" or "melee accuracy fix" or whatever at some point too, I'm ready to bet on it.

Just play a job because it's fun and don't worry about the rest.
