Hi all. Stoked to discover the existence of private FFXI servers, namely this throwback server with a seemingly thriving community. God, I loved FFXI & exploring Vana'diel. Retail veteran, played on and off between 2004-2014, 99MNK/THF/WAR/DNC/NIN/PLD/WHM with lv99 Spharai & 104+8 Leathercraft. Didn't participate in high level / end game content as much as I wish I would have during the vanilla era though, so this is cool to find the Nasomi server. Began in Hades as Paco and ended up in Cerberus as Chalkoutline when Hades was extinguished and merged with Cerberus. I'm reminiscing and feeling things out here to see if I'm up for immersing myself in the old world again, and showing my non-gamer-girlfriend what FFXI is all about since she's never experienced FFXI. She's excited and learning and loving it so far, even though she gets her ass handed to her from time to time by a goblin (didn't we all when we were noobs?). The new player grind is harsh (still in starter gear at lv7+ and less than 1k gil to my name!), but I like the pace because it's nostalgic and I wasn't interested in rushing through. Reminds me of when I used to do the bat wings quest in Sandy for 200gil a pop for income, and when my friend loaned me 10k and I was floored at such a generous offer, ha ha. Ah, them good old days.

Monk was always my love and main focus in retail, but I'm wanting to learn RDM and/or PLD this time if I settle in for the long haul. Eventually I'll be interested in joining a good event LS in the future as well, i.e. Dynamis/Sky/Sea and such. I'm playing as Seanchan and she's playing as Roezmarinus, feel free to say hey if you see us tramping around or if you knew me from retail. Just taking it slow for a while so that she can take everything in at a good pace. Cheers!

By the way:

- What time zone is the game time based on now? Like when we would have to wait till JP midnight in retail for certain quests to progress, etc., what time zone does the game server reference now in such cases?

- What crafts is Nasomi in need of? I may or may not want to craft again.

Nasomi server time is based on Eastern Standard time, UTC-5.

Id suggest a craft skill that enhances the efficiency of your own jobs or playstyle. Maybe some good ole alchemy to make silent oils / prism powders for spelunking? Cooking for some MP regen during battle? Or perhaps woodworking so you can create an elusive chatoyant staff later on? Often times, crafters have very reasonable prices on goods and services from the lower population and an influx in craftsman in general. So from my own perspective, if you don't craft, its not going to impede you much - especially early on.

Hey Halt, it's Now Or Never. Yeah Vamp's LS, I had a ton of fun in there. I tried to hang out with him when I passed through his hood a couple years ago but unfortunately he was unable. That's rad you still have those hermes sandals. I don't know about top 3 or top anything, but thanks lol. How long have you been in Nasomi now? See you in game.

That's too bad. Indeed I haven't seen many monks running around here in Nasomi, like zero basically. Endgame star or no, MNK was always my love in retail. But that's ok, I plan to focus more here on other jobs I didn't give as much love to back then.
