I recorded data for 100 stroper chyme kills doing about half with normal hit kills and half with viper bite kills (all with TH3)

The normal hit kills averaged about 5% drop rate.
The viper bite kills averaged about 7.5% drop rate.

I realize the sample size is low, but the data so far suggests that your theory is incorrect ( at least for viper bite ).
