This is another thing people continually to miss. FFXI is a game about cooperating as a team. Every player needs to do their part. There is no time when people can be lazy or have sub-par gear(at least gear up half-decently like Roki does) or expect something to work "just because it's supposed to be a good job/gear/party setup/etc"

FFXI is a game about timing with your teammates. If your PLD isn't doing their job, nobody else can, and to call RNG "nerfed" because other players fail to play the game well is just ridiculous.

There's also the fact that there is a change job feature in your moghouse FOR A REASON. As Nas said in a Q&A, THERE IS NO SETUP/JOB THAT IS USEFUL IN EVERY SINGLE SITUATION. RNG is a niche job and always has been. It's very useful for OWNM or other kite/etc. fights and that's the entire point of it. You have flash-enmity(the ability to pull the mob at just the right time is a skill you can learn) and whenever Nas fixes Flashy Shot this will become even more apparent. I sense he's been following these "lolRNG" posts and is planning on introducing a few fixes, so why don't you just work with what you have instead of complaining and in the meantime, you should have another job or two at level 75 anyway, no matter what job you had first. I'm leveling up brd67 because I know that BRD is useful for endgame in many situations that RNG simply would be more of a liability in. I also have BST73 that is useful for stuff that I like to do on my own or teaming up with other BSTs. I also have WHM60 that I am leveling up for when outside heals/R3s/too many BRDs and not enough heals for some reason kind of situations. I also have blm42 I plan to bring up for manaburn situations and similar situations that I've mentioned before where RNG would get in the way and when there's already enough BRDs(for some reason).

Flexibility is key to this game, and it is what sets it apart from other MMOs like World of Warcraft, In many games you play your job. In FFXI you actually play your character. If more people understood and used the change job feature and understood their role in any given situation(which can change depending on the type of fight/setup/etc. There is no single way to play any job. You need to be dynamic) and thought more about the ENTIRE GROUP rather than themselves, the game would be a much less toxic place.

I, for one, am not going to let these toxic people ruin my FFXI experience.

You're basically continuing to argue that RNG can be played and still do something resembling damage.

The fact of the matter is, even if you can technically still play the job, there's not a reason to, outside of JoL, OWNMs, and maybe KB.

But BLMs are just as good at OWNMs, better at KB, and JoL can be done just fine without RNG as well.

It's an expensive job to level that is worse at every situation than every other job. That doesn't mean it can't be used in those situations at something approaching "OK" - just that you could play any other job, do better, and spend less money.

Once you get any of those other jobs to 75 Roki, you’ll realize pretty quickly you’ll never leave your MH as a RNG again, just like the rest of us.

Works great as an "I'm crafting/questing in-town" job, with Striders + W.Legs + Aketon :D

Edit: Also handy as a 'getting around on foot' and finding stuff' job in general.. I did a lot of mining on Armaddon as RNG/WHM, etc. However, other than JoL, I rarely used it for events... I still preferred going RNG for OWNMs, but mainly out of convenience having movement speed while kiting.

I don't want to give Nasomi too many good ideas but...

What if Blm had to stand at a certain range or it would affect magic accuracy and/or damage? Each element could have it's own "sweet spot." That would be fun!

The Ranger "update" was a complete disaster and the worst part was it was touted as a "buff" further cementing it's meme status.

It's still a good job for JoL and wide-scanning Jailer of Faith though!

This is really all you have to look at to realize the update is ridiculous... Imagine BLM getting the same "buff." Just imagine it. Would you, or anyone, like it? Would it make the game better? It's the same thing.

If you don't want RNG to melee, which is absurd in and of itself (look at any historical texts on rangers, like LotR, or any DnD rangers), then make RNG melee not generate TP or something. This would leave the other classes reliant on xbows alone, RNG would still have basically all of their functionality, and it wouldn't ruin their ability to participate in AoE fights, kiting, etc.

I havent played in months, but just repeating what everyone said outside of JoL, OWNM, and KB you're not doing much. Even in those 3 situations you're also likely not doing your "max" damage due to the stupid sweet spot crap. To me that is just beyond annoying.

BUT I had way too much fun on rng in Dynamis with my LS. I for the most part would go /war in dynamis and play a game of can I 1 shot it or do i die. I thought it was great fun, some people laughed, im sure some were annoyed, but it is what it is. You can do some pretty good burst in my opinion, is it ideal? probably not, but if youre in a situation like Dynamis Lord where the mob doesnt move and you can stand in your space, you can blow your load and hope everything hits for a very large chunk of damage.

for those who will comment lul rng at dl, eh dont care im aware stuff does more damage, but i still came rng and did just fine.

to the peeps in draconic balled /wave

thats all for now, until next time, when i check back in and see what the servers doing.

I had a ranger in my pt last night, he seemed quite happy. Did well in damage, didn't pull hate, played the job pretty well.
