EXP sure, any race is fine, but for harder content, that Galka is gonna be /heal while the Taru and others are still keeping the tanks up. It's playable, but it will never be equal, no matter the player.

My point is that TaruTaru players often blast through their MP and aren't as efficient. Not utilizing regen, using higher tier cures when a II or a III would be sufficient. With the right gear and play style a Galka mage is fine in any content, not just EXP. All things equal, of course a Taru would outperform, but not to this handicapped level you're describing. Thanks for the input.

That same Galka is still standing after taking 3 hurricane wings when the Taru is /dead.

Why didn't the taru cure or stoneskin themselves between hurricane wings?

People are pretty elitist here if you don't have the best gear then your considered a "bad player". Good luck trying to get gear or refresh when its marked up by 100% on the AH.

It's not like you can buy it from an NPC.

There are many resources out there to help you make the money to buy Refresh on the AH if you need to. In fact, most of those resources are given to you by players who you are calling elitist...

I mean if you are in the Dunes in full RSE and a level 1 weapon, do you expect an invite? It's not about having BiS, at least try. I haven't come across this elitism you're speaking of... but maybe that means I'm the problem? I'm glad you helped me come to this realisation.

Guides that tell you early game gil making isn't going to help when refresh is 120k and leaping boots are 300k even common gear, I was looking for lv15 mnk knuckles and its like 16k nah fam ill be using lv12 gear until lv24.

gear costs are kind of irrelevant past needing the initial money to buy it, because eventually you’re going to get to replace it and sell it. And your example, it’s a weapon that lasts for nine levels which is a great value

It's a place to start. To learn how money making even works. Once you're in your mid 20s you can use your knowledge of farming to go make 20k gil/h and buy your lv 41 Refresh after a few hours.

Not a single person in a dunes party would ever expect someone to be using lv 15 HQ gear. It doesn't cost a lot to upgrade once you're out of the dunes to ~20 gear, though. Cougar Baghnakhs for 2k that are faster and do more damage than your Legionairre's Knuckles which sell on AH for 2k as well? People know you aren't even trying if they see that.

It's kinda like fat people. Ya don't get fat for no reason - it tells everyone around you that you are lazy. Using lv 12 h2h weapons when you could upgrade to stronger, faster gear for the same price at lv 20, and you're 24?
