Here's a record of the past (almost) year of pop.

It used to be about 2 years ago it was relatively easy to camp NMs, but the prices of NM drops were also lower because of that. You have a lot more competition these days.

Do you guys think theres more opportunity for NM since this is a smaller server?

The population is quite high, so most NM camps are pretty busy. Especially the popular NMs. It really gives you that feeling of the era though, and makes every claim/kill that much more rewarding.

It's the same it was back then, yes. xD

Doctors/White Mages recommend you avoid dying.

Everything in life is a double-edged sword.

The hefty penalty for dying, teaches you to be more cunning, and perhaps to be more cautious and/or prepared. Making you a better player over time.

I played WoW for tons of years, and I couldn't stand that aspect of the MMO in comparison to FFXI. Turns most player (maybe apart from pvp'ers and serious raiders) into trash tier, and is just another reason why nothing in those games give you that deep feeling of accomplishment. I've still never found a game even close to what FFXI feels like, and that includes other SE titles like FFXIV.

I don't play a whole lot however there's like 900 people online right now at 11 AM (EU time) and there's usually 1200-1300+ when I get on during the evening. Server's gotten HUGE lately.

That can't be possible since Nas's pop doesn't dip below 700 even at the absolute lowest overnight:

He could be offering a correction for the number of people afk in towns. Between mules and mains it's easily 200 ppl. I stay logged in on my main overnight but I'm not generally playing overnight. I know that doesn't quite get you to the numbers he's suggested, but some of my European friends have commented that they wish Nas wouldn't count dual box/bazaar chars in the level sync tiers.
