The whole point is it requires more group cohesion or more economic interaction for buying oils etc. Nas has made clear in his streams that he doesn't like easy transportation because it reduces feeling of the adventure. I'm fine with this change tbh, and if it makes it so that oils/powders aren't just trash compared to sneak/invis all the better. Would you support home point warps here? The reason I play here is because it's not cakewalk travel, cakewalk exp, etc.


Just because it's "era appropriate" doesn't mean it's good to have.

Look, I've said this elsewhere, my gripe is that it's totally random, like it's not based on anything at all. It should be based on enhancing magic skill level, job level, etc. It needs a degree of reliability.

And, I think the "totally random" thing is kind of misleading when you're getting less than 1 minute duration on 90% of casts.

Edit: Also, love the idea of making fresh level 20 somethings shell out 10k on sneak/invis garbage pots so they can walk through qufim.

Go test it and see how it works then, I've seen people claim that /whm is less reliable (see Miku's earlier post), for all we know it is based on level or skill etc. Fresh level 20s in Qufim can do what we people always, ask for a sneak escort (same thing they'd have to do now), buy pots, or dodge aggro. It's really not an earth shattering change.

I mean I have tested it out and yeah that's usually what I'm getting is less than 1 minute casts on my 30 whm and getting less than 1 minute casts off of lvl 60+ RDMs. That's been my experience so far. Betting a buff off a 60+ mage should at least be 3 minutes minimum, c'mon.

Also, speaking of Qufim, it's pretty clear to most of us that a lot of the zones seem to have a greater number of mobs than they did in retail. Qufim just seems to be packed with Gigas. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but that's just how it seems.

If these sneak/invis changes are going to stay where they're at, which not going to lie they probably are, then that needs to be addressed.

And I dunno about the sneak/invis/escort thing out to qufim island. In the parties I've been in people are usually asking the healer for buffs. But, you know, different experiences and all that.

I dont get what you're trying to say here but what I was saying was that a fresh level 20 WAR/MNK would need to have someone come sneak/invis them even if duration was static. Since you're probably (hopefully) not playing with characters that have both the spell sneak and the ability flee, the two chars would be heading in the same direction at the same relative speed. Level 20s wouldn't have to buy oils/powders any more than they do currently.

I want the classic combat system, level cap, job selection, available gear and abilities, economy. Things like storage and travel I would much prefer having it as easy and fast as possible.

I don't think there is a server that caters to this, at least not a big one with a solid economy. So, I'm just going to complain and suck it up at the same time hehe.

As a player that played retail from Beta til WoTG I wll say that this current 1-2min duration is not to era. Sorry it's just not. Anyone that says otherwise is purely trolling. I will gladly dig through my old videos of content I recorded back during the era and I am 100% positive I have casted sneak / invis in some of them showing 5-8min.

3 streams ago Nas refused to increase the duration of oils and powders because he wanted us to "travel with mage friends to cast sneak/invis". Now he nerfed the mages sneak/invis to roughly the exact same duration of oils and powders....Let's just take a minute to discuss the logic of this change. Sorry but I'm not going to keep getting murdered by mobs because ever 15 seconds I have to recast sneak/invis on one of my other 5 party members when traveling.


This is gamebreaking for me and is just another step towards making WHM even more irrelevant.

You must be the one trolling because 1-2 is not an average of possible durations, and as several have stated on retail you could cast a sneak or invi and have the 30 sec warning instantly pop up.

As for taking into account enhancing skill, I believe that's what Nas was trying to say he'll implement in latest stream, that moment when he can't find the word and mentions his broca aphasia.

My memory of sneak is kind of in between the extremes people seem to be arguing about. I definitely remember casting and immediately getting the message that it's wearing, but I also remember sneak/invis lasting up to 8(ish?) minutes.

Problem with how it works now is it's no more than 3 minutes, ever, and more often than not, it's 1ish minutes.

If sneak/invis was broken before, I TOTALLY understand it needing to be fixed, but it went from one extreme to the other, when it should have been in the middle.
