I've been testing it with "r", "R", numpad "7", alt "r", and command "/automove", my character just wouldn't autorun... is there something I've missed?

thanks for the reply Ben. I eventually found the answer, someone somewhere mentioned that you need to hold the forward movement key while you press the auto-run button to make it work...
