This is the dunes your talking about you know. You know. The dunes.

The place where you can and will likely die from aoe spam, bad players, new players, whatever. 3hr food for flat stats is meh. Like, you can do other things for similar cost but not be forced into the 'well I spent 15k for this 3hr food and... now I died'. Like, Rice dumplings. Half the str and like a quarter the hp but you get double the duration for 3k less. PLUS, if you die your not hecked.

But for real if your doing dunes party as melee, just run a jack-o-lantern. The +5 acc is going to be more helpful unless you have bard + cor together. ACC early is hard.

Also I'm pretty sure this thread was about early play time people; or just pure new to the server.

Oh - I wasn't suggesting it's actually good advice for someone that's coming to the forums asking for food... I just meant, I've done it and was happy. I wouldn't think to recommend it to a newer person.

I agree with you. I generally use lanterns as any melee, besides PLD where I've used steamed crab +1 as a mithra, and I was using hedgehog as the taru.

Renala, that's exactly why the Pies can be so good. +55 HP is no joke when your max HP is barely 200.

I understand this isnt a great suggestion for the original poster since they wont have access, but man between lvls 1-20, ambrosia makes xping just about as fun as it ever will be.

We talking about practice....not the game but practice! Practice, we talking about practice!

For melee I always go with the Jackolantern as well. It's dirt cheap and flat ACC is incredibly helpful in dunes. I mostly use these in Qufim as well. Beyond that I start using better foods.

For mages, I used to use pies but I don't find the larger MP pool too useful as I rarely get a chance to fully rest, so I usually just stick to cookies. Next time I play a mage though I'll probably try switching to those Fruit Parfaits, as that sounds fantastic and they're pretty cheap, too.

Another good low level attack food is Navarin: +3 str, +27% attack and ranged attack, +1 agi and vit, with a little +HP and +5 evasion. 3 hr. food, and seems to go for between 1-2k.

If you have the inventory space available, and feel like going the extra mile, HP regen drinks can be nice to have. Persikos au lait last 10 min. and restore 4 HP/tic, but at 3k each, may be a bit spendy. Pamama au lait also last 10 min. and restore 2 HP/tic, and are only around 300g each. If you can hold 6 of them, an hour of regen can be useful in the dunes levels. There's also Selbina Milk which is 1 HP/tic for 2 min., is stackable, and can be purchased from NPC in Selbina for around 600-700g/stack I believe.

On the mage side of things, probably Fruit Parfait if looking to minimize resists, or ginger/wizard cookies to maximize MP recovery. Low MP races may want to go with something like Rolanbery Pies for the +50 MP because while MP recovery is nice, making sure you have enough total MP to comfortably make it through at least a single fight is important in the lower levels when melee/tanks don't have many options for mitigating damage if you need to rest mid-fight.

Also, if you can spare the time, leveling cooking to around 30 is pretty cheap and massively useful for making refresh juices in the field.
