Another good low level attack food is
Navarin: +3 str, +27% attack and ranged attack, +1 agi and vit, with a little +HP and +5 evasion. 3 hr. food, and seems to go for between 1-2k.
If you have the inventory space available, and feel like going the extra mile, HP regen drinks can be nice to have. Persikos au lait last 10 min. and restore 4 HP/tic, but at 3k each, may be a bit spendy. Pamama au lait also last 10 min. and restore 2 HP/tic, and are only around 300g each. If you can hold 6 of them, an hour of regen can be useful in the dunes levels. There's also Selbina Milk which is 1 HP/tic for 2 min., is stackable, and can be purchased from NPC in Selbina for around 600-700g/stack I believe.
On the mage side of things, probably
Fruit Parfait if looking to minimize resists, or ginger/wizard cookies to maximize MP recovery. Low MP races may want to go with something like Rolanbery Pies for the +50 MP because while MP recovery is nice, making sure you have enough total MP to comfortably make it through at least a single fight is important in the lower levels when melee/tanks don't have many options for mitigating damage if you need to rest mid-fight.
Also, if you can spare the time, leveling cooking to around 30 is pretty cheap and massively useful for making refresh juices in the field.
