I get ya
I only found this server and started playing about a month ago, what I lost is peanuts compared to what you lost.
From my perspective, I have two characters in the upper 40s, so I was looking ahead trying to figure out how to buy a few elemental staves and a vermy, with a pipe dream of obtaining an iridal staff.
I had managed to farm up close to 200k by mostly selling fire crystals/hermit rings/synthed stacks of copper ingots
then I see a guy trying desperately to get his kclub offering 200k for a moon orb
sounds great to me, I buy a couple and now I'm sitting on around 600k - that vermy + a handful of staves are now in reach
...and now over 400k of that gil is gone, and i'm kicking myself for not pre-buying things
I'm 100% certain that vermy's will not drop to < 50k (when they were selling for < 200k prior), I'm 100% certain that iridal staves will not drop to < 500k (when they were selling for < 2mil prior)
my purchasing power took a hit, it sucks
and it's peanuts compared to what you lost
If I had been playing on this server for multiple years instead of a single month, and I was treated this way, I'd probably bail too. Especially with so much fuss about not breaking the rules in moghouse, yet the players responsible for the current situation apparently are the only ones who got away from this event cleanly since they're the ones that didn't have to sell any items or spend any of their time to get their illegitimate gil.
tl;dr - I get ya, this situation sucks for everyone except the cheaters, and it especially sucks for any entrenched legitimate players
