It appears the Goldsmithing Guild guild point item for Novice rank for today (5/19/2016) is bugged.  
The NPC is asking for a Beetle Earring, which is a bonecraft item.

Checked the Goldsmith GP item again today (5-20-2016) at 12:23pm est. The NPC was asking for a Beetle Earring again/still.

Identical thing happened to me today. I decided to try trading a Beetle Earring +1 to see what happens. He took it and gave me 350 guild points.

I just started doing guild points on Nasomi, is this common?

This isn't common but it does happen. A funny one is Argute Belt (SCH relic belt) for the alch guild.
