Ok so I created my character and was able to log in the game. I was going to go exp out of Bastok and when I zoned to South Gustaberg, I got stuck in the black screen with the "Downloading data".

Now when I try to log on that character I get the following window:

Error Code: FFXI-3001
No response from the Final Fantasy XI server.
Connection timed out.
Press OK to shut down.

I looked at the online status page and my character was still there, so I waited 10 minutes, until my character was not online anymore. Tried to log in and got the same error.

I can create and log on other characters.

Anyone know how to fix this?

The Garuda cluster was down for a short time.

It's back up now.
