Were you 0 skill prior to this or did you already have skill in fishing? Even .1. I ask because I'm not getting any at all at 0.

I just confirmed this myself. I'm fishing level 1, and I'm able to catch Cobalt in Port Bastok with no support at all. Clothespole and Little Worms. Did you try with Gear or Synth support? A pair of gloves should only go for 3k. I'd love to hear back as soon as you can.

A friend tried it out with the gloves on. He did not do a super extensive test but he did not receive any skill ups, and his base fishing was 0 with out the gloves, which put him at 1 while wearing them.

Ok i am now level 7.

Damn its slow but yea not impossible.
0-4 went port bastok with clothspole and worms (Cobalt Fish) very rare bites and really slow skill ups.
4-7 went The Knightwell in West Ronfaure clothspole and Worms and only caught crayfish ,Plenty bites but slow skill ups and lack of skills.
When you hit 5 you start to fish up moat carp and with that my skill ups went better but still slow.

Thanks for posting these replies. I'll be trying bastok out tonight. I'm glad to hear it's not impossible!

So Bastok worked to catch fish, yet even after 12 cobalt I have not gained any skill. Is that the rate you experienced? We're you level 0 fishing when you started?

Update: Ok. I did finally receive a .1 in fishing at 0 skill so it is possible in Bastok with Clothspole and little worm.

Sorry for the late response! I started this at level 1, but I had others report they were successful at level 0. I can tell you firsthand, however, that yes, it really is that slow. Just keep it up till level 3, then go hit Knightwell in W. Ronfare for crayfish!
