There is no good solution to kings. It sucked this era in retail. The system is fundamentally flawed. The problem was mostly alleviated with einherjar in toau and the subsequent kings force pop items. Since the later obviously wont be implemented because it's not "in the spirit of cop era ffxi", everyone has no choice but to just deal with it.

I almost hope I never get a damlatica -1 because then that would mean I'd have to camp kings, /shudder. The only reason I got one the first time was because aspid popped at 6am one day and it double dropped.

I wasn't being serious, it wouldn't work or be realistically enforceable for the reasons you stated. Force pops seem like the most realistic solution and would keep players from botting claims and flooding zones but I doubt that will happen as well.

Wouldn't change anything, people sell rare/ex drops off kings on this server.


but like gov said if it was pop items off say a ksnm 99 then the time spent is there and everyone has a chance vs a certain mob being monopolized at a timeframe people cant play

The experience already died by introducing this new claiming system. The only thing that made kings somewhat fun was to actually try to claim and get that adrenaline rush when you claimed.

I can't believe that there's anyone who likes to sit there for 3 hours or 9 if you camp all of them each day and hope you randomly get the claim. Then you sometimes have the bug where your
party member gets choosen by the HNM but nobody else in the party can do an action on it and are forced to die or warp out. Or you have 3 people competing against alliances even though they know they can't hold or kill the HNM and once they get claim you have 60 people spamming on the mob waiting for them to die. I don't even wanna talk about the insane lag you get when KB pops which lasts whe whole fight.

SE had introduced a small window upon the spawn of the HNM where you could not claim it to fight against bots, but people were still able to bot claim by just having each their bots set up a different delay to make sure at least one of them goes off.
The best thing they did was to make them force pop, which came way too late though since you could already get the same or better gear from Einherjar and Salvage, except for some items like defending ring.

All these issues would be gone by making them force pop and even linkshells who don't camp kings due to the insane time investment needed, would have a chance to fight them.

I think a strong compromise would be to just add the pop items onto some other content (i.e., KSNM99 of the same mob type) while also keeping the same spawn conditions. This allows people to get their "experience" of camping while also allowing others to progress to get their desired items through other means.

This would also stimulate the economy quite significantly. Items from the KSNM99 would enter circulation and newer endgame players would be attempting ground kings and thus be buying cursed gear. It's unfortunate that items drop to the floor or hang out in someone's mog safe because they are seeking one or two different abjurations for their group.

I was toying around with an idea related to this. The NQ pops do come from KS99, and their HQ pop counterparts could be readily added to NQ king pools if desired. HQ kings could even still pop on their own if it was warranted (re: drastically spiking population). There is currently a backlog of king pop items on the server, and that system would initially favor older groups unless it was handled differently. But I think there could be some merit to force pops still. What if another item sink was there for those pops to help the exclusivity of drops?

Nas has mentioned the intent to implement White Coney again in the future. What if Coney pop required all 3 king pops? This would keep all major groups in competition for ground kings while also providing other avenues to get gear similarly to the relief Einherjar provided in retail.

People actually cares about that. It seems people forget how did Chess manage to start grabbing all the claims he did in the past. He was just brining the new players and mass recruiting them into his LS . In Nas logic. What he did was RIGHT. he didnt do anything against the RULES. but he was using the low lvl/newwer char into his Advantage because sadly thats how the new claiming system works gives priority to low level char. When people did noticed that, and got TIRED of losing claim to CHess while we didnt understand how we was getting so many claims. People started bringing the LOW level characters to HNMs camps. WHY??? Because NASOMI claiming system is not random. Want a FIX? actually make the HNM claim people RANDOMLY. That it doesnt gives priority to a lower level. Or make HNM camp 75 only. I dont know.

Only problem is see and why dont think force Pops will happen is that people will then start to cry about other NMs need to be force popped so they dont have to camp the mob. Force pops has alot of positive and negatives. It really helps multiple endgame shells new and old to have a chance at drops on a consistent basis, which at the moment is a issue for that fact that for multiple months a shell has been keeping ToDs of HNM in a specific timeframe to get minimum to no competition. This would eliminate greed factor as it would spread Abj to all the shells looking to obtain drops. If other events were used to obtain the drops which creates more content for people do on regular basic. The negatives about it and key factor is its a slippy slop if he adds pop items for these NMs. People will then start to complain that they want KA, KV, Tiamat, etc to all be force pops which then causes a bigger issue. I truthfully dont want to see Nasomi cater to casual gameplay because king drops are some best items in the game, but I still think there is some areas of improvement that could be implemented into the claim system as I dont think its 100% random.
