Let's be honest, that rule is not clear at all and is very poorly worded.

Is does not say how many characters you're allowed to create, how many accounts you're allowed to create.


Let's say you create 50 characters but only use 3 of them, you do not use the other 47 and also don't bother deleting them, does that mean that you're using more than 3 characters? Not to me.

There is a reason why people had to delete fully leveled crafters. When i first started on this server, i heard 100 different opinions regarding this rule because nobody knew what it meant exactly, nobody but people following IRC 24/7.
Alot of people had 5+ characters, multiple crafting mules, multiple camping mules, because most of them thought that the rule meant using more than 3 characters at once with 1 being a mule.


Because of this, Nasomi now made the rule very clear with the new account system, it now says:

Creating an account/character = the use of the account/character.

Don't ask random people what the rules mean.

Very few people had that many characters. Maybe some endgame people made tons to do things like camp HNMs - but that was also explicitly against the rules and weren't ever allowed.

I've been asking nas to 'update' the rules page for months now.

Well dang now I got to sort my characters out of who ill keep and who I guess ill have to delete.

I also thought we could create more than three as long as we only played two in the field maximum at once.

clearly since so many people had a similar issue, the rule could be interpreted multiple ways .

Yes the rule can be interpreted many wrong ways.

There are people with 100 crafts on 4th and 5th characters that are about to get very creative, that's all. I've always thought it was clear, but there's a lot of people that interpreted the wording to mean just 3 characters online, at a time.

Also - I think expecting people to keep up on a freaking IRC chat to understand poorly worded rules is a pretty unrealistic expectation, and just a way to deflect blame from writing a rule so poorly and then enforcing it a few years later.

To be fair, the vast majority of those people aren't the original owners of the accounts. Players retire and give their friends their crafters, it's been an ongoing problem that nas has been adamantly against since the beginning. Same with community accounts/mules. I remember when a ls leader got banned for cheating and his linked accounts were removed, the ls bank char got removed. While it was a clear violation, nas restored the bank as to not screw everyone in the ls.

1. That's not true for all of them. I can think of a few.
2. That still sucks, either way.
