Can anyone confirm if the ability to drop and swap CoP reward rings works here?

A guy in my LS (Sheldon) did it a long ass time ago, and he was able to obtain a new one no problem. Id screen shot before and after just incase though.

I did it recently. I’d do what Sly suggests to be safe. I dropped the ring and then clicked the door in Upper Jeuno and it let me switch. It was nerve racking but it worked.
