I'm about to hit rank 3 in Sandy but I kind of regret it because the enfeebling bangles from Windy look good and you get 3 mage door access. I don't want to swap though because OPs are so nice. What do you guys think, more generally about which city is the best in the long run as a home? Not necessarily just should I switch. Cheers!

I pick Bastok because it's what I've always picked, and it fits a Hume. That said, I prefer Sandy over all others. Windy, on the other hand, is so far removed from the other two that it tends to be a pain for new players. I am also not the biggest fan of Windy's story. Really, you can't make a wrong choice... but it seems to me (from the week I've played so far) that Sandy tops out on OP controlled regions.

Bastok is the best city. You have your Moghouse, OP Warp, Signet and AH all within 100 yalms of eachother.

Hmm those are good ideas. What about CP items? I'm big into crafting and looking at the level 25 and 34 items and thinking "I'd like to make those!". Do you think the premium price is a big deal?

Edit: I guess Bastok and Windy have the best items for that purpose so it doesn't help Sandy at all haha, but I guess the question still stands if that makes a difference to y'all at all.

You can swap. Windy's got an LS almost specifically focused on capturing outposts, so you should have all of OPs available within 1-2 months easy.

I gotta say WindurstWins has really been impressive so far. Each week 2-3 zones are picked and conquered. We have 100% success rate so far.

This is precisely why I switched from Windy to Bastok!

Sure but I don't recommend ever doing it after you hit rank 6 and have started RoTZ missions.
