I'm a newish person who is looking forward to playing some FFXI. After playing FFXIV for a month I got curious on how XI worked. When the game was new, I had to skip it since I didn't have the hardware (or the money) to play it. Happy to see people running private servers so new people can experience how it was back in the days.
However, I have some questions that I hope I'll get some answer to.

Firsty, I have already played a little bit of FFXI on a different private server, so I have downloaded the game, windower and xiloader. Do I need to remove everything and start from scratch in order to play it on this server?

Second: The reason while I'm looking into playing on this server, and not stay where I am is because some of the mission there don't work. Certian NPCs aren't enabled or you won't get the item you need to progress. Is there a similar problem here as well?

hi. welcome.

you should use the nasomi installer. its quick and easy. you do need to use it.

most missions work without issues. sometimes they can bug out. no server has all missions working flawlessly

Sweet! And I just need to use the nasomi installer? Even though I have windower with the other servers IP adress and stuff?
