I started fishing, but I'm getting really odd messages. I started with a bamboo rod and little worms in northern sandoria. I'm getting messages that say 0/Japanese characters. I moved to east ronfaure and was getting messages that my rod broke. I got one where I did the pocketing the fish animation, but it said my line broke? What gives? I've read through the forums and see that fishing is apparently working, but clearly not for my character. Has anyone else had similar issues and find a fix?

This means you are on the incorrect game version; meaning you either transferred from another server, so you didn't use the nasomi installer, or you updated ffxi at some point.

To get onto the correct game version, use the nasomi installer.
