Okay know what some of you are going to say “leveling fishing is very slow” and “you just have to wait,” But I’ve been trying to catch bastore sardines for almost 4 days (average of about 3-4 hrs a day) and have not been able to catch a single sardine! I was following a fishing guide I found on the nasomi wiki (https://nasomi.com/wiki/index.php?title=1-50_Fishing_Guide_by_Solidac), and when i hit lvl 7 I left west Ronf and went to port windy to try and catch bastore sardines and quus like the guide said to. When I got there I couldn’t catch any, I used the Sabiki Rig and also tried lug worms but nothing. I also tried Selbina, Mhuara, and Port Bastok, but I literally didn’t catch anything but rusty garbage and cobalt jellyfish. I then went back to west Ronf and leveled fishing to lvl 9, became a recruit in the fishing guild but no change. I don’t know what to do any help would be greatly appreciated.

Generally I've found ffxiclopedia to be very accurate when it comes to fishing. I never tried to target Bastore Sardine but seeing as your level 9 now, I don't know why you would either. You can make far more money with Moat Carp at that level.

I'm not saying that the guide isn't accurate I'm just wondering if I'm doing something wrong or am bugged in some way. I should be able to catch bastore sardines and quus at lvl 9.

Quus and Bastore Sardines can be done right from the beginning in Selbina. Composite Rod and Sabiki Rig. I caught tons of them before I hit 10. You should get Quus, Bastore Sardines, Cobalt Jellyfish, Silver Rings, and Rusty Leggings in Selbina.

Like I said in my original post Murdocksiren I tried Selbina, but didn't catch anything but cobalt jelly fish. The only difference was my fishing rod. I used a Clothespole instead of a Composite fishing rod, but I didn't think that would make a difference.

I've been able to catch bastore sardines using a clothespole + sabiki rig in Windurst.

Ya I don't think its the rod, I'm pretty sure its some kinda bug.

I don't think it's a bug. Here the recommended place to catch is in Mhaura. http://ffxiclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Bastore_Sardine why don't you try a town in one of the port zones? I've caught plenty in Port Windurst.

Like i said in my original post i tried Mhaura and all the ports except for sandy and I doubt that will make any difference. I tried port bastok and mhaura again today and after around 50 tries at each zone nothing but rusty gear and cobalt jellies. I don't know what else it could be but a bug.
