I used to play on consoles in the day and i was in a yuhtunga jungle party .. It was going for quite a while and i fell asleep . my dad took a picture of me in my chair sleeping with a Polaroid and he passed away shortly after from cancer so whenever i see that picture i always think of him and mandies using sleepga lol

very first exp party in konschtat highlands @ NA release... we had just met up in dangruf, the guy who ended up being the pt leader told us stories of how jeuno is at the other end of dangruf, and you had to have a chocobo to get there because it was just too dangerous. we headed out, and he taught us about /follow. we're /following him through north gusta and we come to the waterfall and we ask him to stop running for a sec so we can look, and he threatens to "turn this thing around and go back home to bastok" so we just keep going. we finally get to our camp, and since im THF, he tells me i have to go pull a sheep. i mosey on over the hill and see a couple sheep, and think nah cant be these things, these look weak, oh, THATs the one over there that i gotta pull, that huge ram!

they kicked me, even after all that wonderful bonding on the way there.

Let’s see. I’ve got a few of them and they sort of string together.

I started out as a Hume MNK form Windhurst and almost immediately after I got the game my graphics card died. I wound up heading to a cyber cafe to play while I was waiting for a replacement part. At the time I was not yet level 10 and had wondered into Tahrongi Canyon for a quest or XP, or something. I met up with two brand new WHM players and we formed a mini party running around Tahrongi together. I was still learning all the ins and outs of the game but I’d been being coached by my older sister who played a Taru BLM and got me my world pass: She’d taught me that as a frontline fighter my primary job was to deal damage and keep the mages safe. When we accidentally linked a couple Gobbies we started a chain run all the way home.

As my HP goes Red the first White mage uses Benediction and then keeps running. I keep using boost as often as I can to try and peel the goblin off the white mage (I’d been told it wasn’t possible to get hate back unless you were a Paladin). Right before that mage bites it the other WHM uses Benediction and keeps running. I kept pursuing, Smacking whenever it stopped for ranged attacks and using boost. When the second WHM was in red health I smacked it with a boosted punch and it turned to Ranged attack me at point blank - I’d successfully peeled it off the white mage. I was face down in the dirt moments later.

This was memory 1 - and should have been a clear indication that I should become a tank. (I wanted to level MNK and then later unlock SAM though - for really no more reason than it looked cool to me).

I leveled to 18 with a static my sister had set up, they helped me get my SJ. Eventually they’d unofficially kick me from the static due to drama (Another members online GF who started the same time I did wanted to play Monk, as I tried to level and gear up a Tank they left me behind because I was too slow for them.). The drama wasn’t a fond memory but taking Warrior through the dunes actually lead to two:

First one was my first Dunes party as a Warrior. I came equipped in the best gear I could afford, with food, with a battle strategy and wound up in a team of total newbies. I was level 13 in a team of 10’s and 11’s (This was before Level Sync). They were so very bad at what they did. I level the dunes that night at level 11 - but oddly it was so much fun. They weren’t bad like some of the bad Quifim teams I’d had - bad because they got PL’d and didn’t know how to play. They were bad because everything was new and they were all over-eager. By the end of the night we had a smooth party going but we had several mad dashes to the Konstanch boarder as links or gobbies threatened to end our team. My HP was set at that area and I don’t think I lost a single mage the whole night (thoug I obviously died a lot). My best death was when the team was running for the zone and our White Mage decided I had died too many times - so they’d stop and heal me (grabbing hate from the 3 Lizzy link our THF had accidentally grabbed. I kept trying to juggle hate through Boosts, Provokes, and attacks while we ran. He zoned over at 6 hp, I had 20 when I hit the zone but loaded into the highlands dead. I didn’t know that could happen then and had a laugh about it.

By the time the team ended each of us knew our job and how to handle it.

The last memory I’ll include here sort of caps the whole sequence off. I was in a party in Valkrum at ~ 18 MNK/WAR with the most annoying Dark ever in the group. Our Warrior was getting picked on for being somewhat new and when the team pulled something they shouldn’t have she wound up biting it. Her home point was back in Bastok and the Dark dropped party to find another one because waiting for a raise or run back would take too long (This was before OP warp). I checked around and the white mage I’d helped back in Tahrongi was level 40 (sub was level 3) and ran back to Valkrum to raise the warrior. The warrior became my one real friend I made playing XI beyond just people who were nice to me because they were part of my sister’s LS and liked her.

i knew a guy on Ramuh called Handz. He was friends with people i knew, (Gene and Greg "a.k.a Mrsmalls"). I was standing in KRT one day at spook and there was 15ish~ people there roughly and handz hit me with a tell saying he had a surprise for me. I just lol'd in response, but knew this guy was balls to wall in terms of how he showed leniency for the rules. Not even like 20 seconds later Handz comes clipping through the floor and drops a /say with the message "I brought you guys a present." Vrtra comes climbing up out of the ground and starts one shotting everyone who was at the gravestone. My character names were Vexxer/Septor. Hope you guys like the story:P

I remember using Chainspell then raising and saving a dynamis run, I was a freaking hero.

My other memory is the complete opposite.

I remember going to GM jail for binding gobbies next to completely random exp parties in Yhoator. Bodies everywhere. So many angry /tells. My IRL friend and partner in crime tried to convince the GM that we weren’t hacking, botting, or gilselling, we were just playing the game in our own way. GM banned us for a week. Called my friend on the phone and had a good laugh. “Well, I guess I’ll see you in a week then.”

Being able to level sync and party with friends who weren't end game . Can't do that on nasomi unfortunately
