How does AH decide who's item will sell first?
Lets say there are 100 stacks of shiheis on AH, and all are at 4k, does the person who put it up first get sold the first?
If I price it at 3999gil, will it go faster?

the lowest priced item sells first.

if they're all the same price, the oldest sells first.

yes, listing an item for 3,999 when it's going to go for 4,000 will make it sell before all of them that are listed at 4,000... but after any of the ones listed at 3,998 and below.

I've noticed it's neither newest nor oldest. Sometimes the items just sell rather randomly when listed at the same price.

Well, I haven’t tested it directly, I just have gotten that strong impression from all the sales I’ve done. Would be easy to test, though.

My newly listed scrolls seem to sell first and old ones occasionally get mailed back. (All same price)

When I played retail, I was under the impression it worked as you described.

If I had to guess, not taking into consideration the oldest is probably linked to whatever allows us to list more than 7 items.

the item is assigned a hex value and the highest value item gets priority and goes first if same price.

Otherwise its lowest price if no tie

There was a bug 2 years ago where it was newest first instead of oldest. Nas fixed it and afiak i haven't had any issues since. Things seem to be going by oldest first when all prices are the same.
