I don't know why you're acting so hostile? You made your case and I can respect it man.

I'm sure there are others out there (in fact I know there are) who are wondering about the absence of a discord and maybe its worth leaving an official response/sticky somewhere to prevent threads like this in the first place.

I didn't realize the server was so afraid of seeming inviting to newer players. I'm not demanding change or anything I'm just trying to figure out why the server isnt using Discord in the first place (yes, I found out why).

Discord will certainly exist in 5 years. Probably 10. Maybe 15.

It has more users than Slack these days, and even businesses are using it. Discord has more active users than IRC ever has. It's absolutely massive, in a way no group chat program has ever been. I'm sure it'll change over the next decade or so, but I would be absolutely shocked if it disappeared.

(This isn't a comment on a server wide Discord, just on this point.)

Nas already has enough work to do with trying to fix/code things. Both making several official statements on bunch of extra stuff and caring about if people make forums topics about it, are both very far off his radar.

No registration to ask for help is inviting.

No download needed to ask for help is inviting.

No giant corporate conglomerate that steals your data is inviting.

There is a reason people are hostile about discord. Naschat works. IRC works. It performs every function that it is intended to, quickly and easily. No one feels obligated to use it, no one feels obligated to tell others to use it (seriously, the 'everyone needs a discord, all other programs are garbage' attitude really resembles a cult). So does telling everyone that people who disagree with you are 'wrong' without any reasons whatsoever, exe.

I see. Well, not much ado about that. Thanks for replying politely.

I'll be bouncing from the thread now that I have a some closure on the discord situation.

So basically this is a server where everyone is best friends with each other, super polite, very helpful, no drama, no disagreements, perfect community. Well that's what they want new people to see anyway and having a Discord of people being people will counter that. Fourms are routinely deleted or "cleaned up" by mods to insure this. But that's the true reason why there won't be a server discord. I know it would have helped a bunch to have a server discord when I started back up.

I really hate discord.
