Have you ever consider letting the players download FFXI installer from the official site? This way we can really minimize the Nasomi torrent to only additional installers (DX8, MS Redistribute stuff, pre-configured Ashita)

That will make it more complicated for new players (having to grab stuff from multiple sources), and make nasomi more reliant on SE infrastructure

Torrents are faster than direct downloads in almost every case. One stop shop to obtain everything is easier for the end user, and they still manage to mess that up half the time. And I do not want to rely on SE any more than absolutely necessary.

There's nothing to stop yuou downloading the game from se's website if you want to do it that way, then download preconfigured ashita and the update files separetely from the download page here, update as normal by doing the check files, and download the c++ runtime (think you just need the 2015 x86 version regardless of your os iirc) direct from ms website, works fine.

most torrent programs will also let you adjust which files you download from a list....though if it's just one big .zip file, that won't help much.

You can reduce the patching times for new clients massively by downloading and extracting the 2 patches from the bottom of this list

If you are unsure just do it the normal way though.
