When I'm looking for an atypical party location I usually use Campsitarus. The only issue with it is that the primary camp locations are very ToAU heavy, which doesn't really apply here.

You'll find most of what he's listing in there.

Well only atypical to this server. Back in 03-05 all the camps I listed were very popular (other then pugs in rancor, good exp but a bit of a run). I'm surprised that Lizards in rancor aren't popular with how much we love to kill lizards on nasomi :P.

My suggestion would be to create your own LS and watch ppl get to lvl75 before you on any job you can think of (yes, i mean pup). Then think about why you chose elvaan as race for a blm. :D

We all love you btw. :)

I also think there's a bit of a problem with exp camps 65+ in general, there's really not much after Boyahda Tree's 62+ camp aside from turtles in Gustav or other 75 merit spots that offer comparable exp/hr.

Quite a few camps after 62, Den of Rancor, gustav tunnel, Moon, Cape terrigan, dragons aery, kuftal tunnel, bibiki bay and ect.

Most of these camps just aren't very good and don't yield high exp/hr relative to their more popular alternatives. DA doesn't have enough mobs and I'm pretty sure they're on a 16 minute respawn timer, kuftal tigers spam AOE paralysis and claw cyclones, bibiki dhalmels don't give the exp they're supposed to (again sub-200 when they're still IT, on retail they gave a lot more) and often break chains due to repeated healing breeze use and their huge HP, Gustav is fine but usually taken by people meriting and really isn't supposed to be what it is anyway, the turtles don't use any TP moves. Unless you were referring to the goblin camp that was used on retail, but goblins are not good mobs for exp parties on Nasomi, they can easily wipe parties with bomb toss. People don't use most of these camps because they're just not very good, the most viable are probably bibiki or gustav and they do get used pretty often.

I miss XP'ing in Sky... Is there a difference here that cause people to not do this here?

It requires access to sky, which most newer players aren't going to have yet, and there aren't enough mobs there. You wind up sitting doing nothing waiting for respawns. Most camps with mobs on 16 minute respawn timers aren't terribly good camps for that reason, if your party is killing at at least a decent pace you'll wind up with lots of downtime waiting for respawns.

That makes sense. Was the respawn timer lower in era?

I get the access thing, but assuming that was taken care of.. I just remember XP'ing on weapons or statues and being pretty happy with it. Don't remember what the timer was, though.

Good to know.

Respawns were 16 minutes on retail too IIRC. Back when all we had was RotZ, it was a decent camp because there wasn't much that was better. But as more content was introduced, like CoP, better camps cropped up. The statue/Ullikummi camps are okay but again you usually run out of statues to kill if you have a good party and wind up waiting for repops.

And I meant that newer players probably aren't going to have completed all the Zilart missions required to access sky yet if they're leveling their first one or two jobs to 75. Glad to hear the shimmering circle has been fixed if that's the case, though.

Nah, I know, I meant as long as the issue for your party of access has been fixed. Like ignoring that reason, that’s what I meant.

No idea if circle is fixed.

Welcome to FFXI in the CoP era! Most level ranges have one or two "easy" camps with high exp returns for the effort. You don't really expect to get the best exp camp every single time you join a party do you? This will only get worse as the population grows, the same thing you deal with in every non instanced mmo. Probably the main reason why no one makes non instanced mmos anymore. People expect the very best every time they login and that can only happen with instancing.

Seems like we all have one of three choices here, you play the game like it was back in the CoP era with all the "crappy" camps, you go out and explore new camps, or Nas will craft some custom exp camps for us. ToAU zones are pretty much out of the question atm since no one has them working.

If you explore new camps and find acceptable XP camps, even if they're not optimal, please tell us about your findings in this thread, so the wiki page can be updated.
