I don't need to post a direct quote from nas every time I tell you "he said x", do I? Because he explicitly said not to, so I won't. But months ago, he said he isn't moving OWNMs. Do you still want to try to convince him to do something he said he won't... or do you want to tell him the issue that OWNMs cause and get that fixed instead?

No, I don't need to reiterate that the only way to change bad opinions is to continue to inform them of the better opinions.. do I? I never said Nas didn't say that.. I said I expect him to change his mind, as he often does when things that are broken and continuously complained about.

However, if he has a better solution than simply moving the OWNMs.. I wish him the best of luck. Until then, I think we'll continue to ask for the simplest one anyone can imagine.

I trust Nasomi is smart enough to see, "Oh.. Here's a ton of people complaining about OWNMs crashing meaningful zones. They'd like me to move them." and think: "I don't really want to move them.. I'll fix the issue instead." Because I don't think Nasomi is a freaking moron. However, you think he sees the former and thinks "I don't really want to move them... and since that's all they've asked me to do.. I'll just not do anything."

Again.. I guess I have more respect for the dude, but I think a ton of people pointing out a problem with a very viable solution, even if it's not the solution I ultimately go with, is valuable.

Edit: i.e... To the end of your question, I believe that's what we are doing by asking him to move the OWNMs.

So instead of asking him to fix the problem you suggest your own solution.

That worked -so well- with the auto-claim system, level sync, crafting....

I believe suggesting solutions to a big problem is asking him to fix the problem.

I'm sorry if that's too big of a mental leap for you to make.

(also.. he fixed the auto-claim system, the level sync was always an opinion more than a bug, and crafting is a rather recent issue.. that I'd hope he still fixes at some point.)

Edit: Unless you commonly go around suggesting solutions to things that aren't problems.... Which: A. Wouldn't really surprise me and B. Explain so much about this conversation.

He fixed auto-claim system. not with a suggestion by a player as to what to do with it. Saying what was broken and how is what fixed it.

He didn't fix level sync because all anyone did was propose suggestions as to how it should work, and it wasn't considered broken.

He won't fix crafting if all people do is suggest how it should work instead of say what's broken.

Do you see the pattern?

Just tell him what's up. Keep him informed. Don't muddle your factual reporting of a problem to him by saying "it should work this way". It doesn't help the cause nor does he take those suggestions.

I wonder if he ever questions why Nabutso treats him as more infantile and stubborn than I treat my own 4 year old.

As I said, I appreciate your opinion. I’ll stick with continuing to suggest common sense solutions to problems, and assuming that the adult on the other end is capable of recognizing that is mentioning an issue even if he chooses to go a different route on the solutions.

Everyone else is entitled to behave as they see fit.

Ever wonder if the fact that you think everyone is arguing with you, and just doesn’t understand you, is more of a you thing than a them thing? I dunno. Something to ponder.

I don't think you know much about trying to manage the 8000 players who log into your server every month, and how often important things can be obscured by lack of reports or extra useless information. You can pretend like nas is perfect and will absorb all information properly but the rest of us are realistic and understand what he can and can't do.

Nothing you send to him is processed in a void with tons of time taken into it. PMing him saying "there is an issue with OWNMs where doing x crashes the zone very often. This is a problem especially for HNM zones where players have recently started abusing this to prevent others from killing HNMs" is so much better than "there is an issue with OWNMs where doing x crashes the zone very often. you should move the OWNMs so that it's not a problem"

Those two will be treated very differently whether you think so or not.

People argue with me because I tell the how things are instead of how they think it should be. That's too bad, but it's the truth. I don't care if someone is angry with me because I tell them that they need to wait a few minutes after DCing to log back in, or if they're angry because I say nas doesn't refund lost items. I'm not the one making things that way. You can avoid my advice if you'd like, but I think you're fully aware of what nas has to deal with and are, as usual, interested just in arguing that you're right instead of taking advice to get your issue fixed easier.

Go PM him your suggestion if you want to suggest something, but if you want something fixed, PM him what the problem is.

I believe we all know equally as much as you do about doing that, first hand speaking, yes.. As for how he treats the same thing worded in two different manners, I guess that's up to him? I don't presume to know how another person's brain works. It's why managing 8000 people logging into a server via an IRC Chat might be an issue, lol? I'd hate to recommend a solution to that as well.

Either way, if you'd like.. we can say.. "There is an issue with OWNMs where doing x crashes the zone very often. This is a problem especially for HNM Zones where players have recently (not really recently) started abusing this to prevent others from killing HNMS. Please move the OWNMs so it's not a problem." I guess we can go that route.

Edit: As for why I'm arguing with you, it's more because I'm bored at work. I genuinely don't believe more reporting of the fact that people can crash zones at will, at this point, will do anything to help the issue. He'll fix it when it's his priority to fix it. I think that could be done sooner if he'd just move the OWNM, but again, his server. You seem to think every forum post is an opportunity for you to tell us how it really is, as if we don't know that Nas ignores the forums, instead of maybe.. JUST MAYBE.... We're treating it as a forum to talk about and brainstorm with fellow players.. you know.. like.. what's the word. A forum?

If you truly think that's a useful tidbit, go ahead. It isn't, but go ahead.

I genuinely don't believe any of it is all that useful, hence why we're discussing it on the forums that Nasomi hardly ever reads.
