I enjoy Monk, but based off LFG, and the lack of Monk items on the market, it seems they aren't highly played. Are they just plain horrible, or just not meta-worthy?

You're going to get a lot of different opinions here. I, too, enjoy Monk and am currently at 56 and climbing. If you enjoy a job, play it. If there aren't party invites, make your own. If you need something and it isn't for sale, see if it's something you can have crafted or drops from an NM. Join a good LS, get some help if needed.

Not much room in end game for monk. You could do low man stuff with MNK/NIN but as far as HNMs, they don't do much dmg since people don't like to take the effort to try melee strats. They're good for EXP if you focus on accuracy while leveling.

You know of a good LS, or could get me in yours? I'm pretty new to FFXI all around, so any help in the form of information would be great.

It’s powerful for everything but endgame. If you care about that, level something else for endgame and use Monk for everything else

Monks are very strong in exp and merit parties. Some endgame events will allow you to play your monk, others wont. Just don't be a 1trick pony DD guy is all, versatility is extremely important for endgame, so having multiple roles you can fill is often times more important than having the best, most "meta" job

great for leveling, great at low man in gustav for meriting, can do some shit on the side as mnk/nin too.

no reason not to level it, since you level fast and can use the same gear for samurai later.

Wouldn't that require the Level Sync Range be 25-20?
