Maybe we can start a manaburn community called Burnfam. A conglomerate of BLM that exist under one banner to just manaburn shit to the ground. Tell those pesky melee's to make like a tree and leave.
This is legitimately a good idea. Start up a blm shell, invite people that are leveling blm/brd/cor/rdm. Make a place where you can help each other on the 50-75 end of the grind.
While I actually think this is a good idea, 75% of the jobs you mentioned don't have any issue at all getting into a party with the best XP rates possible, so it's still a tough sell to them.
I enjoy odd parties from time to time, and don't really pay much attention to the XP/hr as long as it's going okay, but I could see that being an issue in general.
This is exactly my point though. I also enjoy odd parties. Yes, you will have players that only want 3-4x DD/nin, BRD and or Cor, and rdm. But you'll also have players that are either ok with going into unorthodox parties, or that simply enjoy them more than standard fare XP groups. Funky setups that shouldn't work - but do - are my bread & butter.
Mana burns aren't really that funky or unorthodox though. They were fairly common in retail in era, and they work fairly well here too. I've done them as low as 42 in Crawler's Nest, and as high as Labyrinth of Onzozo and The Boyhada Tree. I dunno how well it works for merits, but I know how well it works through the rest of the XP range. I don't see any reason for a bard, corsair, or rdm to turn down a primarily social shell that's orientated toward mana burns. BLMs working on their second 75 that's brd/cor/rdm that wanna give their fellow blm a leg up through the struggle, brd/cor/rdm in endgame shells that would like to have a larger pool of blm to recruit from, or even just people with those jobs that enjoy a good manaburn are 3 good reasons to hop in even though they won't have trouble finding XP.
