How do i cast quick spell using macros with a controller?

When i hold the trigger and the pallet shows but its all empty and no way to put a spell in it.

Hey welcome to the world of macros. They are very useful but take some setup before they're useful. To edit macros, open your in-game menu (usually X on 360 controller). Then press X again to get to the second menu. Select Macros to see 20 books to choose from and select book 1 to start making some macros.
